Abstract

The flooring strip (1), especially of laminate, has a tongue (8) and groove (5) along opposite edges (3, 2). The tongue has a wedge shaped cross-section, widening towards the strip, where it has a recess (15) along its underside to interlock with a matching ridge (17) on the lower lip (7) of the groove in the adjoining strip. Adjacent strips are fitted together without adhesive, using a special tool in the shape of a block with a tongue along one edge and an inclined surface on the opposite edge for striking with a mallet.
