Gemäß der Erfindung wird das Gegenstand des Hauptpatents bildende Verfahren bei der Herstellung von karburiertem Wassergas in der Weise abgewandelt, daß nur der Wasserdampf durch eine Sperrdüse in einer- dem Steigrohr entgegengesetzten Richtung in den oberen Gassammelraum eingeführt und auf diese Weise gezwungen wird, durch den glühenden Kammerinhalt hindurchzuziehen, ehe er zum Gasabgang gelangt; das Karburierungsmittel dagegen wird in den oberen Gassammelraum durch eine Düse eingeführt, die dem Steigrohr zugewendet ist, und zieht daher durch den oberen Gassammelraum in Richtung der abgehenden Destillationsgase zum Gasabgang.
