Abstract

A pouch comprises one or more water soluble compartments which house two or more particulate components. Each component forms a fixed region in the compartment. The pouch is preferable made by introducing the components separately into different parts of an open compartment formed by stretching a film over a mould. Then sealing the compartment under vacuum with at least 95% of it filled and the bulk density of its components increased by 5-35%. The pouch may be made of a stretchable, elastic material with a thickness variation of at least 10%, preferably a PVA polymer. The components are preferably layered and may comprise laundry or dish washing detergents, enzymes, peroxygen bleaches, surfactants, chelating agents, perfumes, builders, bleach activators, fabric softeners, fabric conditioners, antibacterial agents, effervescence sources, brighteners and photo-bleaches. Liquid gels may be sprayed onto the components between layers.
