One of the most annoying phenomena in radio reception are the fading phenomena, which, depending on the wavelength and the absorption through, the soil at receivers can be observed at intervals of 50 to 150 km from the transmitter. This phenomenon is caused by interference of the ground radiation and the room radiation, which is refracted or reflected in higher atmospheric layers and returns to earth. Experience has shown that it is caused especially the radiation emitted by the antenna at an elevation angle of goes out about 60 °, signs of loss in relatively close receivers. An enlargement of the area with fading-free reception is therefore only possible if the ratio of ground radiation to space radiation is generally improved, and in particular the spatial radiation is made small at an elevation angle of about 60 °. As is well known, this can be achieved with very high antennas reach. But this requires a vertical wire length of at least one half-wave. Such an antenna requires very expensive masts.
According to the invention, the same advantages are achieved with considerably lower antenna heights achieved. In addition, the invention allows the space radiation at certain angles of elevation to suppress completely. The invention consists in that the current distribution on the antenna is made in such a way that that there is always a power node in the lower half of the antenna. Will be produced this current distribution in a manner known per se by coils at the base of the antenna and capacity areas at the top.
How much the room radiation can be changed with the same antenna height, is shown in two examples in Figs.
Fig. La shows an antenna whose vertical height is 14 wavelength. The antenna has no special extension means at its ends and its natural oscillation is excited by the transformer coil T from the high-frequency energy source, not shown, so that the current belly is at the base and the current node is at the top.
Ib shows an antenna of the same height, which is excited according to the invention so that, a current node on the radiating Section of the antenna at a height from the ground equal to I / 3 antenna length forms; appropriately sized extension means will be found to achieve such excitation Application, namely at the top the capacity C and at the base point, so-

fern nicht die Bemessung der Kopplungs;-spule eine entsprechende Stromverteilung gewährleistet, eine Verlängerungsspule V. if the dimensioning of the coupling coil does not guarantee a corresponding current distribution, an extension coil V.
Die Strah-In Fig. Ic, the space ray diagrams of both antennas are plotted, namely as the ordinate the amplitude of the radiation R, for example measured in field strengths, and as the abscissa the elevation angle α, the latter measured against the horizontal. The jet
It can be seen that the radiation going out into the room is considerable for both antennas is different. In the case of an antenna with the power distribution according to Fig Curve) the radiation going out into the room is lower for all angles. In particular at the critical angle of about 60 ° to the horizontal it is less than half, compared to the radiation from an antenna excited according to Fig (dashed curve).
2a to 2c two antennas are compared in the same way. In case a, there are current nodes at the top and at the lower end point of the radiating section of the antenna. A suitable impedance V at the antenna base can be used to achieve such a current distribution. In case b, the current node has been shifted upwards by α = V 12 of the antenna length using suitable impedances at the ends of the antenna, the vertical height of which is 1/2 wavelength, similar to Fig. Ib.
Fig. Ze shows the room characteristics for both cases. It can be seen that the field strength of the radiation from an antenna excited according to FIG. 2b is zero for the elevation angle 60 °.
In principle, of course, several antennas of the type described can be stacked on top of one another order, but this is usually not possible in the case of longer economic waves Establish. The essence of the invention always remains that a current node between the base and the middle of each Single antenna. For reasons of analogy, the same advantages result if the antennas described are used for receiving instead of transmitting.
