Abstract

A spreading device, consisting of an essentially vertical downpipe (3), on the lower end portion of which a motor-driven spreading plate (16) with a vertical axis of rotation (17) is arranged at the rear eccentric relative to the downpipe axis (31). To reduce or prevent the danger of damage or even destruction of the spreading device when it butts against an obstacle during reverse travel, the downpipe (3) is subdivided in its upper half into two mutually coaxial pipe parts (4, 5) which engage at least slightly in one another and which are thus connected to one another by means of a horizontal joint (6) and by means of a spring element (12). The lower pipe part (5) is resiliently pivotable in the direction of forward travel together with the spreading plate (16), and a signal transmitter (30) for acoustic and/or optical signals, which reacts during the pivoting of the lower pipe part (5), is arranged on one of the two pipe parts (4, 5). <IMAGE>
