Description
Angle frame antenna for direction finding purposes The antennae used to locate transmitters consist of one or two frame antennas that are at right angles to each other and rotatable about an axis or one or more frame antennas in conjunction with directional antennas, which are designed as open antennas. As is known, loop antennas have the property that high-frequency waves which hit the frame surface perpendicularly are received far less strongly than those which come from the direction of the antenna plane. For both loop antennas, which are at right angles to one another, as they have recently become known, the current intensity delivered by the two antennas is the same in four positions, namely when the bisector of the angle of its apex angle or its secondary angle formed by the loop antennas point to the transmitter . Attempts have recently been made to remedy this drawback by using a tuned open antenna to superimpose the vibrations supplied by the loop antennas. The disadvantage of this device, however, is that fully automatic direction finding is not possible and the coordination between open antennas and loop antennas must be carried out each time when the transmitter is located. This drawback is eliminated by the present invention, namely in that the current equality of the two antennas is reduced to at most two antenna positions, the absolute values of which are easily distinguishable. The invention consists of two frame antennas a and b mechanically connected to one another at an angle, between which one or more metal foils c are arranged, bent at an angle around one of the frames and shielding this in one direction, earthed or ungrounded. As a result of this shielding, the four beam directions in unshielded frame pairs, in which both antennas carry the same currents, are reduced to a maximum of two in a shielded antenna, the absolute values of which are very different.
