Description
Method and device for measuring the turbidity of liquids Methods and devices for measuring the turbidity of liquids by determination the path length of one sent through the liquid to be tested and up to at the limit of perceptibility weakened light bundle are already known. The determination of the path length is done in the known devices such. B. in the Way that a mark is immersed in the cloudy liquid until it disappears and the diving depth is measured. In contrast, according to the invention, the path length determined by the number of appropriately arranged with the help of Reflectors between which the liquid to be tested is located: generated Mirror images of the light source is determined. In this way the apparatus reduce significantly. In the device according to the invention arrive accordingly Means for projecting the image of the light source and determining the number the mirror images generated with the help of the reflectors are used. As such Means are for example on the opposite sides of the container for the Liquid mirrors arranged slightly inclined to each other, each of which has a window possesses, these windows expediently essentially in the same horizontal Height, but offset to one another laterally. A light source can be used here Incandescent lamp with a bell made of opal glass serve and further a reading device, z. B. in the form of a mirror image on the last, just visible: adjustable Disc, be provided.
An expedient embodiment of the invention is for example shown in the accompanying drawings.
Fig. I is a longitudinal view, partly in section.
Fig. A is a top plan view, partly in section.
Abb. 3 ist eine Außenansicht.Fig. 3 is an external view.
Abb. ¢ verdeutlicht schematisch die optische Wirkung des Apparats.Fig. ¢ shows schematically the optical effect of the device.
The device according to the invention expediently consists of a rectangular one or similarly shaped box, the opposite sides of which through mirror b, c are formed or covered with such. In one of these mirrors b is a small transparent part in the actual reflection. -Area provided, e.g. by removing part of the silver layer from the glass. The transparent one. Part lies on a window d in the outer wall a1 of the container (if a such wall apart from the mirror is used), so that a light beam -aus of the lamp e can be projected through the liquid contained in the container-a can. The bell of the lamp: e is made of white, opalescent glass, so that a clear picture of the section of the bell determined by the window is achieved, the image in question being round, rectangular or otherwise shaped can be. In addition, if necessary a suitable lens or other optical beam collectors or the like in connection with those causing the image Means are used for the purpose of clear and precise reproduction of the same. A another transparent part, similar to the one mentioned above, is arranged in the mirror c and is located directly on a window dl in the outer wall ai, the transparent one Part in mirror c is at about the same height as that in mirror b, but is arranged laterally offset to this, as can be clearly seen from Fig.2.
The mirrors b and c are arranged at a slight inclination to each other, so that with such an arrangement (a sequence of images by successive Reflection between the two Spiegelur. arises. These pictures are on one Circle drawn from that point as the center in which the mirrors b and c meet. So if someone hits the mirror b through the opening dl sees, it becomes a series of successively larger and clearer ones Images that are at gradually increasing distances from each other, in the See mirror b. In Fig. 4 parts of the sight lines are drawn schematically, which from the eye of the beholder on some of those appearing in the mirror b Meet pictures.
If there is a liquid in the container, its degree of turbidity is to be measured, the number is visible to the eye of the beholder Images are a measure of the degree of fluid turbidity; because the more cloudiness the liquid, the stronger the light will be as it passes through the liquid absorbed and the smaller the number of those visible to the eye Pictures. This degree of turbidity can be classified according to tables or in an expedient manner Scale attached to the device can be determined.
To make it easier to read off the number of visible images, a movable partition or plate or the like can be provided, which is expediently attached to the cover / 'of the device. The part t is shifted in use until it halves or coincides with the last visible image. The shift of part f can be carried out at a z. B. can be read from the scale g, which is divided into degrees of turbidity; A pointer or the like is expediently arranged on part f. According to one embodiment, the deck-eleven 'is provided with one or more slots, into which the part f is hung in a suitable manner, the scale lying next to one of the slots.
