Die Abziehbewegung der gestopften Zigarette geschieht verhältnismäßig rasch, j edenfaHs mit einer größeren Geschwindigkeit als die Zuführung des Tabaks in den Löffel. Es ist infolgedessen, wie Abb. 2 zeigt, der Tabak in dem Löffel nur ein kleineres Stück vorgegangen, so daß der Löffel teilweise leer ist. Nachdem die Zigarette ganz von dem Löffel abgezogen ist, wird in der üblichen Weise eine neue leere Hülse zugeführt. Diese Lage zeigt Abb. 3. Der Stößel h beginnt jetzt zu wirken und schiebt die leere Hülse auf den Löffel. In dieser Zeit bewegt sich aber der Tabakstrang innerhalb des Löffels ununterbrochen weiter. In dem Augenblick, wo die leere Hülse in die Arbeitsstellung gebracht ist, hat er den Löffel bereits etwa zur Hälfte ausgefüllt, und Abb. 4 zeigt die Lage, in .welcher die leere Hülse bereits zur Hälfte auf den Löffel aufgeschoben ist. Der Tabakstrang füllt dabei etwa ³/₄ der Hülse aus, und während des letzten Teiles des Aufschiebens der Hülse in die in Abb. 1 gezeigte Lage hat der Tabak gerade den Löffel bis vorn hin ausgefüllt, und es kann jetzt durch Niedergehen des Messers f in die in Abb. 1 gezeichnete Stellung der Strang abgeschnitten werden. Es wird demnach die Bewegung des Abziehens der fertigen Zigarette und des Aufschiebens der neuen Hülse etwas mehr als doppelt so schnell vor sich gehen als die Vorschubbewegung des Tabakstranges.
