Abstract
The invention relates to a method for uniform pulsed current splitting in the case of parallel-connected, voltage-switching surge arresters, such as gas discharge arrestors, spark gaps with ignition aids or the like, for the purpose of increasing the lightning-strike current carrying capacity. According to the invention, the surge arresters used in the parallel circuit have a delay time prior to the ignition between the main electrodes, wherein a voltage is built up in the event of a pulsed current flow within the delay time which is at least between 10% and 20% higher than the steady-state response voltage of the surge arresters used or of an ignition aid provided, in such a way that, after the response of the first surge arrester, all of the other arresters in the parallel circuit are activated by the respective response voltage being reached. Furthermore, the invention relates to an arrangement for implementing the method for uniform pulsed current splitting.
