Abstract
The target has an electrically operated heating wire (1) for generating infrared radiation. The wire is rolled up in windings (Wa, We) around an axis (Z), where the windings run along the axis. A surface that is surrounded by the winding (Wa) is larger than a surface surrounded by the winding (We). The axis is aligned parallel to a longitudinal axis of the airborne target. The heating wire is attached on a carrier body e.g. heat insulator, that is coated with a conductive layer. An infrared dome made of zinc sulfide, zinc selenide or magnesium fluoride is provided behind the heating wire.
