Abstract

The equipment takes spot samples of vehicle-specific traffic data, especially vehicle position, speed and route, from vehicles (1) approaching the road crossing (4). The information is transmitted wirelessly to the controller (2) of the traffic lights (3). All fixed data transmission equipment is local to the crossing. Route data includes starting point and destination, journey time and turning rules at the crossing. Data is transmitted to a central computer for further processing.
