Abstract

The invention relates to a lifting device comprising a cylinder (102) with a cavity (104). A piston element (106) is arranged in the cavity (104) of the cylinder (102) and comprises a piston section (110) and a rod section (112). The piston section (110) subdivides the cavity of the cylinder into a piston-head space (114) and into a piston ring-space (116). A valve unit (118) is assigned to the piston element (106) and is closed until a predetermined pressure in the piston-head space (114) is reached in order to separate the piston-head space (114) from the piston-ring space (116). Otherwise, the valve unit (118) can be freely flown through. The valve unit (118) is arranged such that a pressure in the piston-ring space (116) does not act on the valve unit (118) in a direction along which the piston element (104) can be displaced.
