Description

The present invention relates to a new device for generating vibrations using electron tubes. Electron tubes which are suitable for circuits according to the invention must have a grid electrode with strong secondary electron emission, so that the grid-anode path is completely or almost exclusively traversed by the secondary electron current in a known manner. Such electron tubes expediently contain an auxiliary electrode constructed in such a way that. there is no view of the anode from the filament. This occurs z. B. a when the auxiliary electrode in "known manner consists of a blind-like arrangement of individual grid bars or sheet metal strips, as shown in section in Fig. 1, where K is the filament, A is the cylindrical anode and G is the ao grid electrode In such a known arrangement, the primary electrons emanating from the hot cathode release secondary electrons into the auxiliary electrode, and these reach the anode, but the path to the anode is blocked for the primary electrons due to the shape of the grid The invention now consists in connecting such an electron tube to an electrical oscillating circuit in such a way that oscillation is generated as a result of the negative resistance between the grid electrode and the anode.

A circuit according to the invention is shown in FIG. According to this circuit, the anode A is connected to the cathode K via an oscillating circuit S. Furthermore, there is a connection between the grid G and the cathode via a resistor R. An. The terminals of the resistor produce voltages which effect the correct phase control of the current flowing through the discharge vessel, so that the maximum of the secondary electron current between the grid and the anode coincides with the minimum of the voltage, thus creating a negative resistance. In the figure, / s denotes the secondary electron current, and / ,, the primary electron current, and since the secondary electron current predominates over the primary electron current in the construction of the tube, the direction of the current flowing through the resistor is opposite to the direction of the current in the lattice circle ordinary electron tube. In the case of such an electron tube, because of the predominance of the secondary electron current, the voltage supplied to the grid is in the phase required for generating the oscillation.
