Description

So hergestellte Filter gestatteten besonders schnelles Filtrieren. Process for the production of particularly effective filter bodies for cleaning liquids. Various ways have been used to manufacture filter stones and filter plates. One went from fine-grained substances, such as i. B. Ouarzpulver or fireclay flour, which you brought into the desired shape using a binder, usually clay. The porosity was increased by adding combustible materials. Another method used substances that, such as. B. kieselguhr, are porous per se. Filters produced in this way allowed particularly rapid filtration. It is also known to use active silicic s äuregel as grains as a filter layer.

It has now been found that filters with technically novel Liquid cleaning properties comes from using colloidal silica in sol or gel form together with binders for the production of filter bodies used. The advantage of this method over the use of silica gel in Körnerforte lies above all in the fact that these bodies are in the form of plates in can use any filter device. While the filter sheets are off granular silica gel can only be used for adsorption purposes the filters produced according to the present process also coarse or at the same time Separate fine precipitates from liquids.

Examples of the manufacture of filters. i. A dough is kneaded with the required amount of water from 35 parts of powdered clay and 63 parts of dry silica gel. The dough is shaped into the desired shape and the moldings are first dried and then burned at 600 ° C or higher. The filters easily hold back the finest barium sulphate cloudiness. They are also particularly suitable for sterile filtration. The certainty of sterility can be increased if the silica gel is previously coated with about 1 percent silver, e.g. B. was coated according to Patent 1 309 87th This significantly increases the bacterial adsorption. The filter is cleaned by treating it with acids or annealing.

Die Eigenschaften sind ähnlich wie die unter i beschriebenen.2. 300 g of silica with 7 percent gelatinous Si 0. be processed with 1 g of powdered clay and 30 g .4o chamotte flour to form a dough. The molded articles produced therefrom are dried as described under i. Filters produced in this way have a higher filtration rate than those produced according to Example i. The properties are similar to those described under i.

When making filters one can use colloidal silica solution Use as a binder. It doesn't matter what raw materials you use used. Whether you use the known methods or those listed under examples i and z works, the use of the silica solution always works in terms of a reduction the pore size. But already finished porous filters can be impregnated give the new properties with 3 to 5 percent colloidal silica solution. By choosing the concentration of the colloidal silica solution you have it in the Hand to get more or less dense filters. One works in such a way that one does that Bringing porous filters into colloidal silica solution; drying takes place first at water bath temperature, then the temperature is increased to glowing heat. the Impregnation can be repeated.
