Es ist bekannt, daß bei Mauerwerken, welche hohen Temperaturen ausgesetzt sind, die Verfugmasse bzw. der zur Anwendung kommende Mörtel in kurzer Zeit rissig und spröde wird und aus den Fugen herausfällt, wodurch oft das ganze Mauerwerk gefährdet wird. Man hat bereits versucht, diesen übelstand durch sogenannte feuerfeste Mörtel zu beseitigen; diese wurden hergestellt aus Sand und Ton oder Sand, Schamotte, Ton und anderen Materialien, je nachdem, ob der Mörtel bei höherer oder niedrigerer Temperatur flüssig werden soll. Nennenswerte Erfolge waren jedoch nicht zu verzeichnen. Eine gute Verfugmasse wird nun erhalten, wenn gemäß der Erfindung Schamottemehl mit Sand und Teer zusammengemischt wird und dieses Mischgut mit Wasser angerührt zur Verwendung kommt.
