Description
Process for obtaining pulp from chopped wood using chlorine. The invention relates to a process for the production of long-fiber pulp wooden. Wood, which is digested with the help of chlorine, is used as the starting material will. According to the invention, the wood is used in the form of wood chips. The impact of the chlorine gas takes place under pressure. Wood chips can be extracted more easily and cheaply produce as long, thin chips, like wood shavings. When exposed to chlorine under pressure the process is easy and with good yield.
The wood chips are expediently soaked before the effect of chlorine, which can be done advantageously with the help of dilute sodium hydroxide solution.
The procedure is carried out, for example, as follows: wood chips are best soaked by briefly warming them up with dilute sodium hydroxide solution and after soaking in a damp state at room temperature the action of Chlorine gas under a pressure of about 6 atm. in an acid and chlorine resistant Vessel exposed. The fiber material is then washed out of the hydrochloric acid formed freed and without the addition of heat again with the one used for soaking Sodium hydroxide treated.
According to the magazine "Textile Forschung" 19119, p. 32, something more coarse can be found Also break up material after the chlorine process, if one considers the duration of the action of chlorine are extended, but the extension of the chlorination time by the unfavorable side effects of the by-products resulting from exposure to chlorine very specific limits drawn. These unfavorable side effects will not occur if one does not extend the chlorination time, but the pressure of the chlorine gas in the Reaction vessel increases as described above.
