Abstract

The procedure displays multiple identical or similar stimulant patterns on a screen or a projector, examining the centre or periphery of the visual field of a patient. The appearance of the patterns are changed by such things as rotation, colour change, contrast, position, depth, number, form and size. The patient is asked to register perceived changes by using a light pen, torch screen or verbal description.

Description

The invention relates to an ophthalmic / neurological device with whose help examines large parts of the visual field at the same time can be. Stimulus patterns that consist of several identical or similar elements exist in different Share the visual field up to the entire visual field with the help presented by projection or on a monitor and the Perception of patients tested with the aim of possibly existing visual field losses of these patients as quickly as possible discover.

So far, the field of vision of patients and normal people has mostly been examined by the presentation of an individual test pattern, the Existence had to be detected by the patient. The only exception is the so-called Rauschfeld campimetry according to Aulhorn (Köst & Aulhorn, 1989), covering a large area of the visual field simultaneously by presenting a noise pattern on a computer monitor is checked.

This process has been developed further, making it far more selective designed. Patterns are presented that are represented by (identical or modified) repetition of defined individual stimuli (such as Landot-C, oriented lines, coherently moving point clouds). The Presentation takes place either on a screen or by means of (video) Projection on a screen. The patterns used were above described in more detail and are illustrated by the following drawings explained. The main difference to that of Aulhorn and Köst The method used is the use of identifiable, separate pattern elements as well as in the change of Element size depending on the visual field location.

Claims (1)

Procedure for the simultaneous examination of the visual field using defined, repetitive stimulus patterns.
In a vision test device, the visual field of patients is checked simultaneously at these positions by the simultaneous presentation of several test signs, which means a considerable saving of time compared to sequential presentation.
The process is characterized by :
  • - Simultaneous presentation of many identical or slightly modified stimulus patterns in the center and in the periphery of the visual field (such as oriented lines ( Fig. 1), coherently moving point clouds, Landolt Cs, temporally modulated spatially sinusoidal intensity distributions (with in extreme cases an infinite period)), pure color patterns without subjective luminance contrast (isoluminant))
  • - Movement or change of the elements of the stimulus pattern independently of one another or synchronously by rotation, translation or variation of luminance, contrast, position, orientation, size, shape, number of end points, number or type of crossing points, curvature, depth in space, gloss or color
  • - identical repetition of the individual elements, if necessary with a suitable increase in pattern size, luminance, contrast, color saturation or color contrast towards the periphery of the field of vision, whereby the decrease in the sensitivity of perception towards the periphery can be compensated and the stimulus pattern is approximately uniformly presented in all sections of the field of vision, which enables (semi) quantitative perimetry.
  • - Presentation of the stimulus patterns on a monitor or by projection on a (canvas) wall
  • - Determination of changes in perception through subjective information from the patient, such as drawing areas of changed perception in the visual field on the monitor using a light pen, touch screen, film, verbal description or the like.
