Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a supercharged multi-cylinder Diesel engine in which all cylinders are assigned The charge air collector from one of the exhaust gases of all Exhaust collector associated with cylinders driven exhaust gas turbocharger and one from the crankshaft of the diesel engines with a sufficient amount of exhaust gas opening clutch driven positive displacement can be supplied with charge air.
With the help of the charging, one can small internal combustion engine the performance of a significant realize larger internal combustion engine. At a given the nominal power, the motor can Charging, for example, to reduce your own weight of a motor vehicle driven by him considerably be made smaller. An exhaust gas turbocharger with one of the Pressure of the exhaust gases from the internal combustion engine gas turbine and with one driven by the exhaust gas turbine renders a charge air compressor at its sub-supplier supply with exhaust gas energy in the low speed range of the Ver internal combustion engine naturally an inadequate charging stung. The insufficient charge then turns the engine Weak in torque and also environmental due to excessive smoke values harmful. A Ver powered by the internal combustion engine dredger loader economically and simply supports those for low internal combustion engine speeds required La amount of air with sufficient charge air pressure, works but especially at full load and maximum speed of the Ver internal combustion engine versus one after the compressor zip working turbocharger system uneconomical. For these reasons, it is common to use an internal combustion engine seem the two types of loaders to circumvent their respective to combine disadvantages.
By document DE 33 17 017 A1 is already a loaded multi-cylinder diesel engine of the above Known genus. To keep a high charge grades in full load operation the pollutant emissions as well reduce fuel consumption and at low Engine speeds with good acceleration behavior To achieve reduced smoke values is with this Diesel engine the other charger by one after the displacer working loader, which the Turbocharger is connected downstream and to drive it with the crankshaft either directly or via a shift coupling or via a viscosity-dependent coupling is bound, the latter with increasing engine speed a relatively falling speed of the positive-displacement charger works. If the alternative with the clutch before is seen, ei when uncoupling the positive displacement ne bypass flap in the connecting line of the two loaders opened so that the combustion air from the exhaust gas turbocharger is sucked in directly. Uncoupling the positive-displacement charger however, it is not sufficient to wear it most vulnerable part of the entire charging system like this to relieve heavily that he ver very much ver can be reduced. On the other hand, chasing leads the increase in performance and the low levels of pollutants in die selmotor on reducing its geometrical-mechanical compression with simultaneous further increase of the boost pressure. For this, the well-known diesel contains engine especially in a cold start at very never ambient air temperature above idle and part load up to full load at high engine speed and very high Ambient air temperature-wide operating spec no transition harmonious adjustment.
The invention has for its object in one loaded multi-cylinder diesel engine of the above kind of a reduction in fuel consumption and Pollutant emissions with increased performance and for an improved acceleration behavior with less smoke values in the low speed range a strong re reduction of the geometrical-mechanical compression in the Cylinders within one from cold start at very low low ambient air temperature up to full load at high Engine speed and very high ambient air temperature above operating range with harmonic control and the positive displacement supercharger via its uncoupling Ability to downsize and extend to further relieve its lifespan.
This object is achieved in that the charge air collector through a charge air inserted into it Partition valve on one or more cylinders operating area is restrictable and everyone depends on the charge air supply supply separated cylinders via the charge air-free part of the charge air collector and a ver with a switching valve see connecting pipe from the exhaust manifold with exhaust gas is acted upon.
The subdivision of the charge air collector by a charge air Partition flap in the middle, for example, directs that from the Displacer boosted charge air volume to only one Half of all cylinders of the diesel engine, which doubles effect of the charge in these cylinders. By the The increased pressure of the charge air also increases the charge pressure to double, since a positive displacement against everyone Back pressure of this magnitude promotes. The one in this Case designed approximate boost pressure without using it an impounding charge air separating flap of approx. 3 bar of the Displacer therefore increases when the Charge air collector through the charge air separator flap to approx. 6 bar, what with a geometrical-mechanical compression in the cylinders of 3: 1 by the crankshaft movement the overall compression ratio increases to 18: 1. Should If this is not sufficient for self-ignition, you can due to an off-center placement of the charge air separator pe even more cylinders excluded from starting charging will be.
The closed charge air separator flap has next to the ver improvement of the starting charge an additional function, by preheating the charge from the supply air is initially excluded by exhaust gas possible and therefore an additional one in these cylinders lightened self-ignition prepared. Made possible by light extreme enlargement of the dead space portion is pending a lot in all the existing cylinders Greater residual gas content for heating the fresh air available to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions leads and at the same time reduces the ignition delay, which is unpleasant noticeable in the nailing of the diesel engine. There through that with a diesel engine with one for it the number of cylinders in the charge air collector two or more charge air dividers inserted into it depending on the operating range with different division is divisible, the charging in particular also to further relieve the positive loader even stronger for different operating areas of the Diesel engine differentiated. This results in a be special perfection when the turbocharger does little at least two more exhaust gas turbochargers depending on the operating area gig staggered in parallel on the exhaust and charge air side arrangement are switchable.
A due to the Er specified in the subclaims Invention configurations preferred embodiment the invention is in the predominantly schematic drawing shown and will be described in more detail below ben.
The drawing shows a turbocharged six-cylinder diesel engine, in which a total of four charge air separating flaps 14 are inserted in the charge air collector 13 assigned to the six cylinders 11 of the engine block 12 , in order to differentiate the charge for different operating areas and in particular to further relieve the supercharger 10 . Of these, which is the charge air collector 13 limiting most charge air separation flap a cold start, the next charge air separation flap tors the start of the warm Mo, the next-charge air separation flap idling at about 20 ° C ambient air temperature and the charge air collector 13 least restrictive charge air separation flap idle over ca 20 ° C ambient air temperature assigned. In addition, there is the additional differentiation of the charge in the area of the exhaust gas turbocharger 15 such that the first exhaust gas turbocharger 16 connected in parallel operates at full load at low speed, the second exhaust gas turbocharger 17 connected in parallel at full speed operation at medium speed and a third exhaust gas turbocharger 18 connected in parallel 18 the full load operation at high speed is assigned.
In all of the supercharger 10 is the Abgasturbola 15 arranged upstream in series and the supercharger 10 disposed upstream of an additional exhaust-gas turbocharger 19 in series to the even better use particularly at cold start of the diesel engine to fänglich low exhaust gas energy and the shutdown of the Verdrängerladers 10 even lower with a To allow exhaust gas generation. In order to conserve the positive-displacement charger 10 to extend its life and nevertheless use it to charge the diesel engine as required, the clutch 20 is opened in a partial load range of the sel engine with the charge air collector 13 not restricted by a charge air separating flap 14 . Since rapid wear of positive-displacement superchargers is mainly based on operation at higher speeds, the clutch 20 inserted between the crankshaft 21 and the positive-supercharger 10 is designed as a centrifugal clutch. Since with much more complicated shutdown devices are avoided. Preferably, the shutdown of the positive-displacement supercharger 10 is provided by opening the clutch 20 at one of the number of exhaust gas turbos, the corresponding fraction of the maximum speed of the sel engine. There is, as it were, a dimensioning specification for the entire charging system of the diesel engine. The use of the positive-displacement supercharger 10 is limited due to the exhaust gas turbocharger 15 additionally provided exhaust gas turbocharger 16 , 17 , 18 and 19 to the area of a rela tively low exhaust gas volume after there the effectiveness of charging by means of the charge air separator flap 14 has been decisively increased. On the other hand, a smaller positive-displacement supercharger 10 also allows higher speeds. Therefore, a gear ratio 22 is provided between the clutch 20 designed as a centrifugal clutch and the positive-displacement supercharger 10 .
The four charge air separating flaps 14 each have an actuation device 23 , which is provided by a common control unit 24 , depending on the operating range, with switching signals. To differentiate the operating ranges of the diesel engine, sensors for pressure, temperatures and the speed can be used in a variety of ways, for example also a sensor 25 for the combustion chamber wall temperature of the first and the sixth cylinder 11 of the six-cylinder diesel engine. In addition to the fact that each cylinder 11 separated from the charge air supply can be supplied with exhaust gas from the exhaust manifold 28 via the charge air-free part of the charge air collector 13 and the connecting pipe 27 provided with the switching valve 26 , the actuating device 29 of the switching valve 26 is also connected to the control unit 24 . The switching valve 26 is closed shortly before the charge air collector 13 least restrictive charge air separating flap 14 receives its opening signal in addition to the other charge air separating flaps 14 already open.
An additional measure for relieving the Verdrän gerladers 10 is that the air inlet 30 and air outlet 31 are short-circuited the Verdrängerladers 10 by means of an opened with an open clutch valve 20 32nd The initial sequence of the charge air compressor 33 of the turbocharger 19, the Verdrängerladers 10 and the charge air compressor 33 of the turbocharger 15 is reduced so that a UNMIT nent connection of these two charge air compressor 33, 34 of the turbocharger 19 constant while the exhaust turbine of the exhaust turbocharger 15 to the exhaust gas turbine 34 is a two-chain forms. With a correspondingly high amount of exhaust gas, the exhaust gas emerging from the exhaust manifold 28 is distributed to the exhaust gas turbochargers 15 , 16 , 17 and 18 , only an additional exhaust gas turbocharger 19 being arranged downstream of the exhaust gas turbocharger 15 .
The operating range-dependent staggered connection of the exhaust gas turbochargers 16 , 17 and 18 is realized in a simple and safe manner in that for opening a shut-off device 35 of the exhaust gas turbine 34 of the next exhaust gas turbocharger between the outlet of the charge air compressor 33 and the next exhaust gas turbola of the upstream exhaust gas turbocharger and one the outlet check valve 36 removed charge air pressure is used. The charge air overpressure is used directly via a compressed air line 37 to actuate the shut-off device 35 . As a result, the exhaust gas turbochargers 16 , 17 and 18 , which can be connected in parallel, and the first exhaust gas turbocharger 15 on the charge air side are each provided with a check valve 36 . Each shut-off device 35 is equipped with an adjusting element 38 for its individual opening threshold pressure and with a closing delay 39 for a switching hysteresis in the La deluft overpressure. Standardized measure as additional security is for keeping the priority-return valve 36 is provided up to the complete closing of the subordinated non-return valve 36, one of the shut-off device 35 of the subordinated exhaust turbine 34 to the return check valve 36 of the primary charge air compressor 33 leading signal line 40th Thus, a holding magnet 41 is activated or inactivated at check valve 36 . After passing the check valves 36 , the maximum four charge air partial flows are combined and then fed via a relatively small charge air cooler 42 to the area of the charge air collector 13 to which the cylinders 11 , which cannot be excluded from the charge air supply by a charge air separating flap 14 , are connected.
For the described embodiments of the charging device it is a supercharged multi-cylinder diesel engine irrelevant how the combustion chambers are shaped and be are limited. In this respect, the cylinders are for reciprocating pistons equal to the Wankel disks. It is crucial that a charge air collector assigned to all cylinders by at least one charge air separator inserted into it fold down on one or more cylinders operating area is restricted and that for the start charging of the diesel engine required positive displacement despite one particularly low geometric-mechanical compression in the cylinders for its downsizing and extension life span is further reduced.
