Description
Process for the production of permanent stencil sheets for duplication purposes. For duplication purposes, permanent stencil sheets have hitherto usually been produced with the aid of cellulose esters and ethers. It has now been shown that the nitrated ethers of cellulose can be used particularly advantageously for this purpose. These nitrated ethers show great advantages over the known cellulose esters such as itrocellulose. On the one hand they are much less -: raceable and therefore - less flammable. Furthermore, they are soluble in a cheap, uniform solvent, such as benzene, which experience has also shown is particularly suitable for large-scale production, since it, in contrast to other uniform solvents, such as amvlacetate or acetone, which also are much more expensive, and the type of manufacturing process used for the permanent stencils does not trigger any noticeable harmful and annoying effects. In addition, benzene has a boiling point of 80 ° C, which ensures a rate of digestion which is particularly favorable for di_-fabrication, through which the deposition of the coating kinase on Japanese tissue paper is particularly uniform. The boiling point of Alnylacetat: fully 1.-j-5 ° C allows the solvent to evaporate too long - which results in irregularities in the masking layer, while the acetone, which already boils at 5G ° C, evaporates too quickly. which also causes unevenly composed stencil sheets.
Permanent stencils which only contain nitrated cellulose ethers as cellulose derivatives are not yet known. These templates are linked, in particular with benzene as a solvent, very particularly pliable and show in comparison with permanent stencil sheets from other cellulose derivatives and the same known ones Plasticizers have considerable advantages that can be attributed to specific properties are which, with special consideration of the intended purpose, so far only the nitrated cellulose ethers.
When using nitrated cellulose etier it is possible to manage with considerably lower percentages of plasticizers than when making templates from other cellulose derivatives. As long and detailed observation showed, this fact gives rise to the great advantage that the stencil sheets made of nitrided cellulose ether have a particularly good shelf life because they do not sweat out any soft liquor even when stored for long periods (especially in warm countries) , but also not, despite the relatively small amount of 1-one softening agents. become hard and brittle, so that they remain easy to describe in terms of body. The stencil sheets made from other cellulose derivatives do not have these advantages, because these other cellulose derivatives consistently produce a harder film and therefore require a very large amount of softening agents compared to the nitrided ethers. If the amount of plasticizing agent in the stencils made from other cellulose derivatives is reduced so much that during prolonged storage - especially in the warmth - there is no exudation of softening agents, the stencils become so hard after a relatively short storage time that they have significantly lost their usefulness if they have not become completely unusable.
According to the method according to the invention, a porous support is obtained - e.g. B. Japanese tissue paper - with an impregnation or a coating of a nitrided one Ether of cellulose with the addition of known softening agents such as camphor, vaseline, Mineral oil, paraffins, waxes, oils ,. Resins, fatty acid and resinous acid salts with or without fillers of organic or inorganic F-type.
Beispiel i.Ether celhilosis can generally be nitrated with the mixed acids customary for the production of collodion wool. Eg lets himself - a. Use a nitric-sulfuric acid mixture that contains around 16 to 17 percent water and the nitric acid and sulfuric acid in a ratio of 1: 2. For nitration one takes about 40 parts of nitrating acid to one part of ether cellulose. The suitable nitriding temperature must be determined as precisely as possible through preliminary tests. The exposure time is a few minutes. After separating the nitrated ether cellulose from the acid, the former is stabilized in the usual way by boiling with water. You can also carry out the iteration with pure nitric acid, but then you have to expose for a longer period of time. The nitrogen content of the nitrated ether cellulose is up to 2.5 percent, depending on the type of nitration. Example i.
In 100% of a 10% solution of nitrated cellulose ether 5 g of an acidic linseed oil-acid soap and 15-1 of petroleum jelly are dissolved in benzene "earths and applied in a known manner to the Japanese tissue paper. Examples. If an opaque one If a stencil sheet is desired, the mass of j to 10 percent of a suitable one is used Filler in any color and otherwise proceed as under i.
