Abstract

The television programme is frequently interrupted by advertising transmissions which are felt to be disturbing by many viewers. The device presented automatically detects advertising inserts in films and provides a signal which enables other devices to respond in a suitable manner to the advertising inserts. For example, this will enable a video recorder to perform a video recording without advertising. When advertising is broadcast, the observation can be made that advertising contributions have one or more of the following features: a) advertising contributions use the entire screen in most cases, b) the transmitter logos disappear for the period of the advertising inserts, and c) advertising contributions are in most cases in colour. The video signal is examined for whether one or more of these features do not apply for a certain period. There is then a high probability that the current transmission is not advertising. There is highly likely to be advertising if one of these features occurs subsequently. The device is suitable for devices for recording, replaying or displaying video signals.

Description

The invention relates to a device for detecting advertising contributions in a video signal according to the preamble of the claim.

Fernsehsendungen werden oft durch Werbebeiträge unterbrochen. Diese Werbe beiträge empfinden viele Zuschauer als störend.TV programs are often interrupted by advertising. This advertising Many viewers find contributions annoying.

In order to suppress these advertising contributions, a facility is required, the Wer can recognize exercise in current TV programs. There are already plans for this impacts, such as patent specification DE 41 06 246 C1. The disadvantage here, however, is that Advertising is only recognized if the viewer himself previously certain video Images that symbolize the beginning and end of an advertising block have been saved.

The object of the invention is therefore, advertising posts fully automatically, d. H. without Help an operator to recognize.

This object is achieved by a device with the features of the claim solved.

Bei der Beobachtung von Werbebeiträgen kann man folgende Merkmale feststel len:The following features can be observed when observing advertising contributions len:

  • a) Werbebeiträge nutzen meist den gesamten Bildschirminhalt.a) Advertising contributions usually use the entire screen content.
The advertising logo usually does not appear in advertising contributions.
  • c) Werbesendungen sind meist farbig.c) Commercials are usually colored.

Because of these properties, it is unproblematic to advertise within Recognize programs that are B / W and / or letterboxed (i.e. with black bars at the top and bottom of the screen) the. For the remaining programs it is only about the recognition of the transmitter logo possible to make a statement about whether advertising is currently being broadcast or Not.

The invention will now be explained in more detail using an embodiment (see Figure 1).

Das Video-Signal gelangt über eine Analog-Digital-Wandler-Einheit an die drei Merkmal-Erkennungs-Einrichtungen MEE_A, MEE_B und MEE_C und an die Vergleicher VA, VB und VC. The video signal reaches the three via an analog-to-digital converter unit Feature recognition devices MEE_A, MEE_B and MEE_C and to the Comparators VA, VB and VC.

The feature recognition devices examine the image content for each one of the features below and teach the associated ver same on the screen lines or screen points in which this Merk times were found. The comparator now compares these lines or points with the corresponding lines or points of the current video signal and in turn informs a control logic about the success of the comparison.

In detail, the feature recognition devices work as follows:
MEE_A: Examines whether certain lines are not used for the image information by checking screen lines to see whether they only consist of the same pixels and do not change from image to image for a certain period of time t (see below) (e.g. black bars at the top and bottom of the screen, which generally do not appear in advertisements). These lines are recognized and are transmitted to the comparator (VA) together with their luminance and color information.

Diese Bildpunkte gelten als erkannt und werden dem Vergleicher (VB) zusammen mit deren Luminanz- und Farbinformation übermittelt.MEE_B: Examines whether a transmitter logo (or similar) is included in the picture, by checking pixels to see if they are for a particular Do not change period t (see below) from picture to picture. These pixels are considered recognized and are the comparator (VB) together with their luminance and Color information transmitted.

Diese Bildpunkte gelten als erkannt und werden dem Vergleicher (VC) zusammen mit deren Farbinformation übermittelt.MEE_C: Examines whether the images are monochrome by adding pixels to them checked whether their color information is for a certain period of time t (see below) does not change from picture to picture, but their luminance information changes tion changes (to exclude pixels belonging to the transmitter logo). This Pixels are considered recognized and are compared to the comparator (VC) whose color information is transmitted.

The period t is chosen so that it is longer than the usual length an advertising block overlay and on the other hand shorter than the time between two Advertising blocks, for example 10 min.

The comparators examine those of the feature recognition devices delivered lines or pixels with the corresponding lines or pixels the current video signal and generate a signal ADVERTISING_x if it is not equal Ness.

The following comparisons are made:
VA: Compares the lines determined by MEE_A with those of the video signal and provides the signal ADVERTISING_A if one or more lines are not identical.

VB: Vergleicht die von MEE_B ermittelten Bildpunkte mit denen des Video- Signals und liefert bei Ungleichheit eines oder mehrerer Bildpunkte das Signal WERBUNG_B.VB: compares the pixels determined by MEE_B with those of the video Signal and supplies the signal if one or more pixels are inequal ADVERTISING_B.

VC: Vergleicht die Chrominanz der von MEE_C ermittelten Bildpunkte mit der Chrominanz der entsprechenden Bildpunkte des Video-Signals und liefert bei Ungleichheit der Chrominanz eines oder mehrerer Bildpunkte das Signal WER- BUNG_C.VC: Compares the chrominance of the pixels determined by MEE_C the chrominance of the corresponding pixels of the video signal and delivers at If the chrominance of one or more pixels is not equal, the signal BUNG_C.

A feature recognition device recognizes at least one line or min at least one pixel, so it also teaches the control logic (KL) about that. This can now decide which comparator it uses to from its signal to generate the signal ADVERTISING, which indicates whether it is at the current video signal is advertising or not.

Bild 2):Since the transmitter logo usually does not reappear immediately after an advertising block, the signal WERBUNG_B should only be used if neither MEE_A nor MEE_C have found any features in the video signal (see Fig . 2):

This means that the transmitter logo (MEE_B) can only be used for an assessment is drawn if the shipment (interrupted by advertising contributions) neither black / white (or monochrome) still in the letterbox process (i.e. with black zen or monochrome bars at the top and bottom of the screen) is present.
