Verfahren zur Verarbeitung von Gips. Es ist bekannt, daß man Gips durch Erhitzen mit reiner Kieselsäure unter Abspaltung von schwefliger Säure zerlegen kann. Ferner ist darauf hingewiesen worden, daß man Gips auch dadurch zerlegen kann, daß man über denselben bei Glühtemperatur Wasserdampf leitet. Es wurde nun gefunden, daß durch; Vereinigung dieser beiden an sich be kannten Verfahren die Zersetzung viel rascher und vollständiger erfolgt, wenn man eine Mischung von Gips mit Kieselsäure oder stark kieselsäurehaltigen Stoffen der direkten Erhitzung durch Feuergase in Gegenwart von Wasserdampf unterwirft. Dabei ist dafür Sorge zu tragen, daß die Gasatmosphäre neutral gehalten wird, d. h. die Feuergase dürfen nicht reduzierend wirken. Zweckmäßiger ist es, in schwach oxydierender Atmosphäre zu arbeiten, da in diesem Falle die Gefahr, daß bei Schwankungen in der Luft- oder Brennstoffzufuhr die Flamme plötzlich reduzierend wirkt und so der Aufschlußprozeß gestört wird, wesentlich geringer ist.Method of processing plaster of paris.
