The invention relates to a module with at least
two photoelectrochemical cells according to the generic term
of claim 1, as well as a method for Her
position of this module.
Solche photoelektrochemischen Zellen kommen vorzugsweise
Die be
Such photoelectrochemical cells are preferred
to be used where light, especially sunlight and
indirectly to be converted into electrical energy.

The invention has for its object a module

This object is achieved by the features of
Claim 1 solved.
In gleicher

The invention is described below using a schematic
Drawing explained in more detail.
Jod/Jodid in Ethylen-/Propylencarbonat verwendet.
doch elektrisch sehr gut leitenden Material gefertigt.
dauerhaft verbunden. Beispielsweise kann ein nicht elek
trisch leitender Kunststoff, in Form eines Thermoplasten
hierfür verwendet werden. The only figure belonging to the description shows a module 1 in the region of three photoelectrochemical cells 2 , 3 and 4 connected in series in section. The module 1 comprises a flat component 5 , which is made of tempered glass. On the surface 5 S of this component 5 , transparent, electrically conductive layers 2 E, 3 E and 4 E are permanently adhered at a defined distance from one another. The layers 2 E, 3 E and 4 E are preferably made of tin oxide. On each of these transparent electrically conductive layers 2 E, 3 E, 4 E follows a photoactive layer 2 P, 3 P and 4 P. These consist of a very porous titanium dioxide. Due to the high porosity, the photoactive layers 2 P, 3 P and 4 P can be compared with a sponge and are suitable for taking up a dye and a liquid electrolyte. For example, the complexes of ruthenium and osmium as well as phorphyrins or cyanides are suitable as dyes. Iodine / iodide in ethylene / propylene carbonate is preferably used as the electrolyte. From the dimensions of the photoactive layers 2 P, 3 P and 4 P are chosen so that they do not completely cover the electrically conductive layers 2 E, 3 E and 4 E. In the embodiment shown here, about a fifth of the upper surface of each electrically conductive layer 2 E is not covered by the photoactive layer 2 P, 3 P or 4 P, respectively. The photoactive layers 2 P, 3 P and 4 P of each cell 2 , 3 , 4 are immediately followed by the second electrically conductive layer 2 G, 3 G and 4 G. The dimensions of these layers 2 G, 3 G and 4 G are chosen so that they protrude the photoactive layers 2 P, 3 P and 4 P with about a fifth of their length. The second electrically conductive layers 2 G, 3 G and 4 G are arranged such that they protrude beyond the photoactive layers 2 P, 3 P and 4 P in the regions in which the first electrically conductive layers 2 E, 3 E and 4 E are not covered by the photoactive layers 2 P, 3 P and 4 P. The series connection of the photoelectrochemical cells 2 , 3 and 4 takes place via cell connectors 6 and 7 . The first cell connector 6 is arranged between the first electrically conductive layer 2 E of the cell 2 and the second electrically conductive layer 3 G of the adjacent photoelectrochemical cell 3 . The second cell connector 7 is arranged between the first electrically conductive layer 3 E of the second cell 3 and the second electrically conductive layer 4 G of the adjacent photoelectrochemical cell 4 . The two cell connectors 6 and 7 are made from an electrocatalytically inactive, but electrically very conductive material. A metallic powder is used for their production, which is processed into a paste together with a binder. According to the invention, chromium, molybdenum, titanium or tungsten in the form of a powder which has a grain size of less than 2 μm is used for the production of the cell connectors 6 and 7 . An epoxy resin is used as a binder. To form the cell connector 6 and 7 , this paste is applied to the surface of the electrically conductive layers 2 E and 3 E, namely in the thickness that after completion of the cell connector, a close contact with the two th electrically conductive layers 3 G and 4 G is reached. According to the invention, it is also possible to apply the paste to the second electrically conductive layers 3 G or 4 G. After the paste has hardened, which requires a heat treatment at 160 to 200 ° C, the cell connectors are permanently connected to the electrically conductive layers 2 E, 3 G, 3 E and 4 G. The size of the module 1 is not limited to three photoelectrochemical cells 2 , 3 and 4 . Rather, its size depends on the voltage to be supplied, which is to be tapped at the series connection. In order to give the module shown in the figure sufficient support, the surfaces of the second electrically conductive layers 2 G, 3 G and 4 G, which face away from the photoactive layers 2 P, 3 P and 4 P, are not covered with one metallic, flat component permanently connected. For example, a non-electrically conductive plastic, in the form of a thermoplastic, can be used for this.
