Es wird dadurch der Elektronenstrom abgelenkt, und zwar werden bei einer bestimmten Stärke des Magnetfeldes die Elektronenbahnen, wie in Abb. ι punktiert angedeutet, so stark gekrümmt, daß die Elektronen zur Ausgangsplatte zurückkehren, daß also der Röhrenstrom unterbrochen wird. Dieser Drahtzylinder strahlt so viel Wärme aus, daß der Innenzylinder Z1 bis zur Elektronenemission erhitzt wird.
