Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a legrest for a wheelchair according to the preamble of claim 1.
The problem with such leg supports is that the mechanical pivot point of the The legrest should not lie in the knee axis of the wheelchair user should, since doing so the side entry into the wheelchair would be difficult and risk of injury. One below of the thigh and behind the lower leg of the wheelchair user horizontal pivot point of the legrest required but that during the swinging up of the leg support this steadily must be extended to lift the upper and lower leg to prevent from their records. First suggestions for automatic extension of the leg support during your Swinging up are in US-PS 30 72 437 and DE-AS 11 79 668 been made. In DE-OS 30 43 150 a mechanism is used for this made of levers and sliding guides, but which is quite sharp in extends into the area of the hollow of the knee. In DE-PS 33 22 587 a mechanism of sliding guides and even more levers described that requires a lot of space behind the legrest and whose appearance is confusing. Finally, in the DE-OS 41 10 937 a mechanism of the type mentioned above, in which when the legrest is swung up a first gear mounted in the legrest on a second gear fixed to the frame, one with the first The swing arm coupled to the gear wheel is continuously pushed via a push rod Leg support extended. This mechanism needs behind and a lot of space to the side of the legrest and that too Characteristic of all previous proposals, namely sliding guides too contain. Slideways tend to jam, however after shock loads, which the leg supports in particular are exposed.
The present invention overcomes these problems through the characterizing features of claim 1.
Advantageous embodiments of the invention are shown in characterized the back-related claims.
A preferred embodiment of the legrest according to the invention is shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 together with an indicated wheelchair and the foot, lower and thighs of a wheelchair user; in closed lines in the basic position and in dashed lines in the extended position.
The same legrest is shown enlarged in FIG. 3 ; this representation serves the detailed description of the present leg support.
Fig. 4 shows an arrangement for the synchronous adjustment of leg support and backrest of a wheelchair and Fig. 5 shows a special version of the legrest according to claim 8.
Fig. 1 shows the leg support according to the invention in the usual, obliquely forward position in the basic position. It is also possible, see Fig. 2, to mount the legrest according to the invention approximately vertically on the wheelchair frame ( 1 ) for a vertical basic position of the legrest between the front wheels ( 2 ) of the wheelchair frame ( 1 ). This latter arrangement can facilitate the side entry into the wheelchair without having to pivot the leg supports beforehand.
The preferred embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to FIG. 3: the upper rocker ( 11 ) with its axis of rotation ( 12 ) is mounted in a housing ( 10 ). The upper toothed segment ( 13 ) is firmly connected to the upper rocker ( 11 ). The lower rocker ( 14 ) is firmly connected to the lower toothed segment ( 16 ) and is mounted in the housing ( 10 ) by its axis of rotation ( 15 ). Both tooth segments ( 13 , 16 ) are in engagement with one another. The free end of the upper rocker ( 11 ) is pivotally connected to the pivot ( 17 ) with the bend ( 18 ) of the leg tube ( 19 ). The free end of the lower rocker ( 14 ) is hinged to the pivot ( 20 ) with the push rod ( 21 ), which in turn is mounted on the pivot ( 22 ) on the leg tube ( 19 ). The leg tube ( 19 ) is telescopically inserted into the foot tube ( 23 ), the angled end ( 24 ) of which carries a foot plate ( 25 ). A clamping device ( 26 ) on the leg tube ( 19 ) in known manner allows the one-time adjustment of the leg support length to the individual leg length of the wheelchair user.
The pinion ( 26 ) is in engagement with the upper toothed segment ( 13 ). It could just as well be in engagement with the lower tooth segment ( 16 ). The handwheel ( 27 ) is firmly connected to the pinion ( 26 ) and serves to actuate the legrest according to the invention. In a departure from the preferred embodiment shown here, a worm (not shown) can also be used instead of the pinion ( 26 ), which is arranged between the two toothed segments ( 13, 16 ) and is in engagement with both. The tooth segments would then have helical teeth as worm gears. Self-locking of the worm gear can be advantageous for handling. Instead of rotating the leg support, a lever or ratchet mechanism can also be used. It is also conceivable that the leg support is operated directly by hand. The latter types of actuation are not the subject of the invention.
When the handwheel ( 21 ) is actuated, the two oscillations ( 11 , 14 ) rotate to the left, e.g. B. in the dashed layers ( 11 a, 14 a), and take the leg tube ( 19 ) in the dashed position ( 19 a). Here, the leg tube ( 19 ) rotates in a virtual pivot area ( 28 ), which should be in the knee axis of the wheelchair user. In this way, the property of the legrest mentioned in the preamble is achieved, namely the advancement coupled with the pivoting of the legrest.
In contrast to previously known solutions, no sliding guides are present in the present invention, which can cause difficulties mentioned at the beginning. If necessary, the gear ratio of the two tooth segments ( 13, 16 ) (preferably 1: 1) can also be changed.
The slim design of the legrest according to the invention is remarkable, which is achieved in that the two rockers ( 11 , 14 ) lie in the basic position on a common center line ( 29 ) and that the leg tube ( 19 ) in the basic position is parallel and at a short distance from the rockers lies. For this purpose, a recess ( 30 ) in the leg tube ( 19 ) is helpful since it can accommodate the protruding parts of the toothed segments ( 13 , 16 ). The push rod ( 21 ) is preferably formed from two on both sides of the leg support ( 19 ) and the lower rocker ( 14 ) lying La ( 31 ), which in turn are firmly connected to each other by a web ( 32 ). In this way, the two tabs ( 31 ) are given a stability that they would not have without the web ( 32 ). The web ( 32 ) is also arranged so that it is parallel to the lower rocker arm ( 14 ) and leg tube ( 19 ) in the basic position of the leg support and lies close to this in the basic position in order to ensure a slim basic position of the leg support.
B. DE-PS 34 31 723 lehrt. The legrest according to the invention is carried by its housing ( 10 ), which is fastened to the side frame of a wheelchair in a known but not illustrated manner. Holes ( 33 ) in the housing ( 10 ) can be used for rigid attachment to the side frame. Or the holes ( 33 ) can accommodate bolts (not shown) in order to be able to swing the entire leg support to the side and back in the usual way in wheelchairs. The necessary locking for this type of attachment in the use position is known and not the subject of the present invention. A central attachment to the wheelchair is also possible. In this case, the angled end ( 24 ) of the foot tube ( 23 ) carries a right and a left foot plate ( 25 ). With non-foldable wheelchairs, such a central attachment of the leg support to the front edge, below the seat, does not pose any problems. This option is also available for foldable wheelchairs that have a central spar below the seat, such as. B. DE-PS 34 31 723 teaches.
In continuation of this idea, an interaction of the legrest according to the invention with the backrest of a wheelchair is possible (see FIG. 4), such that the pivotable backrest ( 40 ) of a wheelchair about its pivot point ( 41 ) down in a boom ( 42nd ) ends, at the swivel joint ( 43 ) a push rod ( 44 ) is attached, which is articulated with its front swivel joint ( 45 ) on the lower rocker ( 14 ) of the legrest according to the invention. This ensures that, in synchronism with the tilt adjustment of the backrest ( 40 ) to the rear, the leg support is tilted forward. That such a fixed, swiveling backrest ( 40 ) is also possible with a foldable wheelchair, teaches z. B. DE-PS 34 30 292. The facilities for the actuation supply and locking in the desired inclination position NEN can be both on the legrest and / or on the backrest ( 40 ); but they are not the subject of the present invention.
The swiveling leg support according to the invention is designed for the creation of a virtual pivot point ( 28 ), see FIG. 3, which lies in front of and above its upper extent. But it may also be desirable that a vertically mounted leg support (see Fig. 2) in deviation from Fig. 2 with the foot plates ( 25 ) should rest on the floor ( 59 ) in order to get in and out of the user To facilitate wheelchairs and to give the wheelchair a firm footing. In this case, the leg tube ( 19 ) should only be raised after the user has entered the wheelchair, only then to move around the virtual pivot point ( 28 ). This requirement can be met (see FIG. 3) by increasing the distance ( 35 ) between the center line ( 34 ) of the leg tube ( 19 ) to the pivot ( 17 ) of the upper rocker ( 11 ). Here, the slim structure of the leg support can be maintained, it is sufficient if the kink ( 18 ) of the leg tube ( 19 ) is extended to the rear and the upper rocker ( 11 ) also bends to the rear.
The other dimensions and proportions of the leg support according to the invention can of course also be adapted to special requirements. So z. B. the gear ratio of the two tooth segments ( 13, 16 ) has preferably been chosen with 1: 1. However, this is by no means mandatory. B. by changing the gear ratio, the lower toothed segment ( 16 ) rotates somewhat faster than the upper ( 13 ), then the length of the lower rocker ( 14 ) and the push rod ( 21 ) can be shortened.
Another modification of the invention is shown in FIG. 5. Here, the upper toothed segment ( 13 b) is not fixedly connected to the upper rocker ( 11 b), but this is mounted in its sliding slot ( 51 ) via the fixed pin ( 50 ) of the housing ( 10 b) and is connected via the pin ( 52 ) of the upper tooth segment ( 13 b) controlled. As a result, the pivot ( 17 b) of the upper rocker ( 11 b) no longer describes a circular arc ( 36 ), see Fig. 3, but almost a straight line ( 53 ), Fig. 5, which causes the kinematic-related deviations the virtual pivot point of the legrest during its swiveling movement can be minimized.
Finally, it should be mentioned that the two toothed segments ( 13 , 16 ) can also be replaced by an anti-parallel crank gear, as can be read in every gear teaching book. This variant is also the subject of the invention, although the toothed segments ( 13 , 16 ) are also preferred.
