Abstract

A microscopically thin layer of material is produced in a microheating press using heat and pressure. The material sample is placed between a glass slide and a covering plate before pressing between heated blocks. Precise flatness of the pressed sample is achieved by applying force through a ball and a freely movable plate. USE/ADVANTAGE - The appts. produces precision test samples of polymeric material used in phase control and polarisation processes. The sample is inexpensive to produce and has perfectly parallel faces.

    Die Konstruktion der Mikrothermopresse ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß eine Basisbacke als Fundament fixiert ist. Die Druckkraft des gegenläufig wirkenden Stempels wird mittels einer Stahlkugel auf die bewegliche Backe übertragen. Dadurch nivelliert sich diese wäh­ rend des Preßvorganges über dem Schmelzgut planparallel ein und er­ laubt die Pressung einer gleichmäßig ultradünnen Schicht bei Einsatz von geringem technischem Aufwand.
    Diese Präparationstechnik ist besonders geeignet für Phasenkontrast- und Polarisationsverfahren. Geprüft wurden diese nach obigem Ver­ fahren hergestellten Präparate mit dem Phasenkontrastverfahren nach Heine und der Polarisationseinrichtung der Firma Leitz.
