Das Rohr α, durch welches das Kühlwasser eingeführt wird, ragt so in eine Schale b, dafs es stets mit seiner unteren Oeffnung unter dem Wasserspiegel derselben steht. Von der Schale b tropft das Wasser auf die an den Seitenwänden des Condensators angebrachten Teller c c und von diesen auf die Teller c1 c1. Durch diese Anordnung doppelter Tellerreihen wird eine grofse Kühlfläche erzielt und zugleich das Einspritzwasser immer in fein zertheiltem Zustande erhalten. Das Kühlwasser fliefst von dem letzten Teller c1 durch einen Trichter i in das Gehäuse k, aus dem es durch das Rohr I abfliefst. Durch den Trichter i ist es ermöglicht, dafs die Brüdendämpfe gleich bei ihrem Eintritt in innige Berührung mit dem Kühlwasser kommen und in verticaler Richtung nach oben steigen. Fig. ia und ib zeigen Modifikationen des Gehäuses k, durch welche die Wirkung noch erhöht werden soll.The tube α, through which the cooling water is introduced, protrudes into a shell b in such a way that its lower opening is always below the water level of the same. Die in Fig. 2 dargestellte Modification des Condensators bezweckt eine bessere Ausnutzung der aus den Brüdendämpfen gewonnenen und zu anderen Zwecken zu verwendenden Wärme. In den unter No. 40819 patentirten Apparat wurde bei g kaltes Wasser eingelassen, welches, nachdem es sich an den Wänden e erwärmt hatte, bei h abflofs, um an anderer Stelle verwendet zu werden. Um nun dem durch h abfliefsenden Wasser einen möglichst hohen Wärmegrad zu ertheilen, sind sowohl die Teller cc als auch die Teller C1C1 hohl gestaltet und durch Rohre c2 c2 mit einander verbunden, so dafs das Wasser nun durch dieselben hindurchfliefsen und auf diese Weise in Circulation versetzt werden kann. Ferner ist der Achse des Apparates die Form nach Fig. 2 a gegeben. Dieselbe bildet einen hohlen, dünnwandigen Körper; bei m tritt das Wasser ein, erwärmt sich und gelangt bei η in das Abflufsrohr h.
