Abstract

A distributorless ignition system for an IC engine comprises a control unit (10) for determining which of a pair of spark plugs (34, 40) is to be energised in an alternate firing cycle via the Darlington transistors (12, 14). The primary coil windings (16, 18) are oppositely wound w.r.t. the centre terminal and d.c. source (20) and generate a corresp. voltage in the secondaray winding (22) of polarity which can promote a current to earth at the terminal (42) through only one of the spark plugs (34, 36) as a result of the polarising h.v. diodes (24, 28). USE/ADVANTAGE - Provides more economically constructed and space and wt. saving device.

Description
