Abstract

The appliance for holding a patient's arm or leg in a fixed position during a radiological examination consists of a fixed rail (1) with a stop (4) attached to one end. The patient's forearm rests on the rail (1) with the palm of the hand being pressed against the stop (4). A second stop (2) which is positionally adjustable is pressed against the upper arm (3) and fixed to the rail (1). The appliance can be used for any form of medical examination besides radiological examination. A similar appliance can be used to hold a patient's leg in a fixed position. USE - Medical examination. Taking of X-rays.

Description

The present invention relates to fixations device with the help of which both human Forearm as well as the lower leg for any Time absolutely stable, so be quiet can.

This stable immobilization is through the one tension of the forearm (lower leg) at almost right angle flexion in the elbow joint and Wrist possible due to anatomical conditions Lich.

Both the heel of the hand and the upper arm are well and painlessly padded by the corresponding muscles, so that active movement of the extremity to be examined in this position is only possible with greater effort due to the sagittal compression on the cup-shaped stop ( 2 ) and the palm-shaped support ( 4 ) is. If the patient behaves passively, this clamping of the extremity also enables long-term examinations such as B. radiological bone density measurement with a scanner by determining the calcium content of the bone, which is to be regarded as an early indicator of the onset of osteoporosis.

In the case of fixation that has been customary to date, the significance can be significant of the measurement results decimated to unusability will. This is presented by the above Fixation prevented.
