Abstract

A sling for holding the shoulder joint in a fixed position consists of a belt (1) fastened around the patient's waist. This belt (1) has an attached loop (2) which passes around the patient's arm just above the elbow. A shoulder strap (3) passes around the patient's neck and the ends of this strap pass under the belt (1) and are attached to loops (4,5). One (4) of these loops passes around the patient's wrist whilst the other op (5) passes around the forearm just below the elbow. USE - Treatment of shoulder injuries.

Description

The invention relates to a bandage for immobilizing the shoulder joint by fixing the arm to the upper body with one around the abdomen Legend belt (abdominal belt), on which an elbow close to the upper arm leading loop and a loop around the wrist (hand steering loop) are attached.

Such a bandage is known from US-PS 37 80 729.

The invention has for its object to the known bandage improve that the patient is easier to wear the bandage, whereby In addition, a better fixation of the upper and lower arm should be achieved.

According to the invention, this is done in that the waist belt on one around the Neck-guided neck strap is suspended in such a way that the neck strap on the one hand in the wrist loop and on the other hand in a forearm close to the elbow loop ends.

With this bandage, the patient's arm is fixed by three loops, namely the loop around the upper arm, the forearm close to the elbow loop and the wrist strap, all of which are attached to the waist belt, so that on the one hand this results in a good fixation of the whole arm, on the other hand, by supporting the forearm in two places, namely Wrist and near the elbow, in connection with the one holding these loops Abdominal belt a particularly good one defined by the direction of the abdominal belt Position stabilization of the forearm is achieved. Because the waist belt is more normal wise in the horizontal position, one results for the entire arm for his Immobilization favorable essentially right-angled bend, whereby by the Suspend the forearm, especially near the elbow  relieving shoulder joint is relieved, since the arm weight essentially of the loop close to the elbow can be caught. In addition, the Suspension of the waist belt on the neck strap so that it is relatively narrow can be formed and not particularly tight around the patient's body must be looped because its height is essentially due to the suspension is determined over the neck strap.

An exemplary embodiment is shown in the figure. It shows the bandage consisting of two layers, the layer facing the body consisting of a skin-compatible textile material, the layer facing outwards made of a Velcro material. All straps and loops can be adjusted in length with Velcro fasteners. The bandage consists of two straps to which loops are attached using metal clips. On the belt to be placed around the abdomen (abdominal belt 1 ), the loop 2 is slidably attached, which is guided around the upper arm near the elbow. At the two ends of the belt around the neck (neck belt 3 ) there is the fastener part of the Velcro fastener. This can be guided and closed in each case by means of a metal clasp fixed to a loop, whereby the neck strap 3 is adjustable in length. The two loops to be connected to the neck strap in this way are closable in an adjustable position. One loop, namely the wrist loop 4 is guided and closed from behind the waist belt 1 and around the wrist, the forearm loop 5 close to the elbow is guided and closable only around the forearm.

To put on the bandage, the abdominal belt is put on first, then the loop near the elbow attached to the abdominal belt is to be guided around the upper arm and closed. Now the neck strap 3 is put on, the loop 5 located at its elbow end being guided around the forearm and closed, while the wrist loop 4 at the other end of the neck strap 3 is guided from behind around the waist belt and then around the wrist and closed.
