Gehalt derselben an Platin bzw. Platinmetallen mindestens etwa 59 Gewichtsprozent
Alloys of platinum group metals. Tests have shown
that alloys of platinum or other metals of the platinum group opposed to copper
chemical attacks have an extraordinary resistance if the
Content of the same of platinum or platinum metals at least about 59 percent by weight
amounts to. Have to be particularly valuable for use in chemical engineering
Such platinum-copper alloys have been found to have a platinum content between approximately
6 r and about 7 5 percent by weight.
For the purpose of producing the platinum-copper alloys, it is advisable to proceed in such a quiet way that the alloys are melted with vigorous stirring and then advantageously by longer. Heating to high but below the melting point temperatures, which is expediently carried out in a vacuum or in an inert gas, e.g. B. nitrogen ,. is carried out, is remunerated. The Gut.einer@nechanischen processing is then expediently subjected to. It is already known that platinum-copper alloys with a platinum content of more than 50 percent are no longer attacked by nitric acid. On the other hand, since it is well known that many metals, e.g. B. iron, aluminum, etc., and their alloys are resistant to nitric acid, while they are not able to withstand other chemical stresses, so could not be drawn from the resistance of certain platinum-copper alloys to nitric acid, the conclusion that alloys with a Platinum content of more than 59 percent take on noble properties that enable them to withstand a wide variety of chemical stresses. Because of these properties, the platinum-copper alloys falling within the scope of the present invention can be used for purposes for which platinum was previously used. Among other things, the platinum-copper alloys according to the invention have proven to be suitable for the production of apparatus and apparatus parts in which reactions are carried out in which malfunctions are caused by the presence of base metals. In such processes, e.g. B. in the preparation of active oxygen-containing products, it has been shown that instead of platinum electrodes (anodes) can be used with best success platinum I # ', copper electrodes according to the invention.
