Infolge dessen dreht sich dieselbe und schliefst vermittelst der Kette G, welche an der höchsten Stelle der Trommel durch einen Stift befestigt ist, die Klappen E, was erleichtert wird durch die Möglichkeit des freien Entweichens der Luft aus dem Fach F durch den Gummischlauch H. Durch diesen Vorgang wird der Luftzutritt und der Rauchabzug abgeschlossen, so dafs das Feuer weniger lebhaft brennt und dementsprechend sich weniger Dampf entwickelt. Die ,Folge hiervon ist, dafs das Wasser infolge des geringeren Druckes im Rohr B bis unter das Rohr C sinkt, worauf das Wasser aus dem Hahn F das Rückschlagventil R V öffnen und wieder in den Kessel zurückfliefsen kann.
