Description

Pesticides. It is well known that sulfur is used in pest control an extraordinary use. The sulfur is used either in the powder form by applying the finely ground sulfur to the plant parts, e.g. B. to protect against powdery mildew, is dusted, or the sulfur is used as a spray mixture injected, which has recently been done with colloidal, aqueous sulfur pastes in the. trade brings. When using the sulfur in the powder form are very common from the expensive material unnecessarily large amounts unused, insofar as with In windy weather the sulfur is partly blown away from the plants and consequently a post-pollination must take place. The ones recently used for spraying Types of sulfur have, inter alia. the disadvantage that they are marketed in paste form become, which is uneconomical in terms of packaging, transport, etc.

It has been found that the dry route by fusing Sulfur powder with sulfonic acids of high molecular weight substances, especially those of resin and pitch character, such as. B. sulphite pitch, naphthol waste pitch, anthracene pitch, or the salts of the substances mentioned to be obtained and followed by a Milling process crushed products for use as pesticides are particularly suitable. Such sulfur can, possibly extended by indifferent Substances such as kieselguhr, kaolin, road dust, etc., either in powder form for Dusting can be used on parts of plants and has a especially excellent adhesion, so that too frequent re-dusting is not necessary even in bad weather, or you can use the sulfur, which is converted in the manner indicated, easily one suitable for spraying Prepare aqueous sulfur broth. This latter has converted sulfur namely an extraordinarily easy pasteurability in water. Eventually at Lime can be added to the preparation of the spray liquor in the usual way. You can too the use of both dry sulfur and sulfur broth with others fungicidal or insecticidal substances suitable for pest control Character, such as B. copper or copper compounds, etc. combine.

Beispiel. Example. Thirty parts of naphtholpech-sulphate of calcium are added to 100 parts of sulfur which has melted. The even mass is kept at i2o ° for about half an hour. After cooling, the mass is ground and can thus be used advantageously as a pesticide.
