Description

Process for partial or complete separation of soluble Strontium and calcium compounds. When processing natural strontium-containing Substances such as cölestin, strontianite, etc., are obtained strontium salts, which depending on the composition of the natural raw material more or less with calcium compounds are contaminated.

Läßt man z. According to the invention, calcareous strontium compounds are thereby purified by mixing them in the presence of water with insoluble strontium silicate treated. If you let z. B. insoluble strontium silicate on a strontium and calcium salt containing solution act in the heat, an exchange takes place in such a way that that the calcium becomes insoluble with the formation of calcium silicate, while the strontium separates from the silica and goes into solution. In this way one can find solutions which in addition to strontium salts also contain calcium salts, partly or completely free from the latter and at the same time enrich it in strontium salt. Working through under pressure, implementation is greatly enhanced.

For the practical implementation of the method it is advantageous to use it substances containing strontium silicate, such as B. the muddy residues, which in the digestion of cölestin with coal after leaching of the sulfur strontium formed remain. Example: 100 l of an aqueous solution of 30 parts of strontium chloride and 13 parts of calcium chloride were mixed with aoo kg of strontium sludge with the addition of 100 liters of water per hour in an autoclave at 5 atm. Pressure and 155 ° C with stirring heated. After the sludge was filtered off, calcium chloride was allowed to settle in the filtrate can only be proven in traces.
