Abstract

Foamed starch in the form of particles can be used as an additive in composting or to improve soil. Pref. the starch particles are 2-10 mm. When used in the composting of clear or watery muds, esp. contamined mud, the starch particles are pref. mixed with the mud which has been substantially dried. Alternatively the starch particles are mixed with soil or the crude compost in the cases of improving soil or composting organic waste. USE/ADVANTAGE - The starch particles are porous and have a large surface area to and are thus able to loosen and aerate the compost or soil and thus save the need to turn the soil or rotting compost repeatedly in order to promote microbial growth and the biological degredation of the organic components. The starch particles can be used to compost organic waste, be it of domestic or industrial origin, but are esp. useful in the composting of clear and watery mud, such as habour mud, esp. contaminated mud, and to improve the soil in fields or contaminated soil. The starch is able to a large extent to remove organic poisons.

Description

The invention relates to the use foaming ter strength.

It is known to use foamed starch as a packaging material rial, especially for food, since it is easily biodegradable and large Lots can be obtained from vegetable raw materials.

According to the invention, it is proposed to foam such Starch in the form of particles as an additive in composting or to improve the soil.

Here, the starch particles carry, preferably in one Size of two to ten millimeters, due to their poro and accordingly large surface area for loosening ventilation and aeration of the compost or soil at and save the repackaged comm postes or the soil to the microbial growth and thus the biodegradation of the organic components the raw compost or soil by microorganisms other.

The use of this starch part is particularly suitable Chen for composting sewage and water sludge, such as Port sludge, especially contaminated sludge, however also to improve arable land or contaminated Soils in which the starch particles largely with the dried sludge or soil. Here at the mud or the earth in such a menu ratio, depending on the load of the sludge or the Soil through organic poisons, down to dioxin, with the Starch particles, if necessary after the decomposition of the organi poisons again, are mixed so that the compo bulled mud finally used as fertilizer and the previously contaminated soil is finally detoxified can be viewed.

In case of organic toxins not too high Sludge or soils can add starch particles in a ratio of 10 to 25 percent by weight, based on the mixture, be sufficient. With a sludge contaminated with high levels of organic toxins according to conventional sorting methods, e.g. B. go after drainage in semi-permeable bags, so-called th shrink bags, in less and very heavily loaded Shares are divided, then the less burden composted and added with the addition of starch particles at least up to a harmless part of organic Toxins detoxified, whereas those who are heavily loaded are burned the.

To improve or cultivate unpolluted soils on the other hand, an admixture in a ratio of 5 to 9 weight percent starch particles, based on the Mixture, be sufficient.

Likewise, the starch particles can be used for composting organic waste, be it domestic or industrial waste,  are used, the starch particles also here are mixed with the raw compost, e.g. B. in a menu ratio of 10 to 30 weight percent starch chen, based on the mixture.
