Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a multilayer granulate Process for its preparation and its use for Manufacture of molded articles.
It is known to react thermoplastic with each other Polymers, for example polyamides and ethylene / Vinyl alcohol polymers, as a mixture in the melt too process to look at the characteristics of each To make use of components, for example, on the one hand improve the barrier properties of polyamides and on the other hand, the flexibility and toughness of ethylene / To improve vinyl alcohol polymers.
When processing such mixtures, for example to films, according to known methods occurs after some time depending on the melt temperature and the residence time of the Melt an unwanted crosslinking that leads to a Yellowing leads, which in turn, for example due to unusable foils.
The invention has therefore set itself the task To create granules that are different, with each other contains reactive thermoplastic polymer types, for example polyamides and ethylene / vinyl alcohol polymers, when used, a reaction of these to one another reacting polymers is avoided.
This object is achieved by the granules of claim 1 solved.
The invention is accordingly based on the finding that at Use of a multi-layer granulate from different thermoplastic polymers reacting with one another, the thermoplastic polymer reacting with each other types by a thermoplastic, with those to be joined Polymer types at least partially compatible polymers Adhesive layer are firmly connected to each other for manufacture of moldings from the melt, for example by Extrusion, a reaction of the reacting with each other Polymer types is largely avoided, so that Properties of the individual components are retained.
The adhesive layer preferably consists of a functionalized olefin homo- or copolymer or a mixture thereof. These functionalized olefin homopolymers and copolymers can consist, for example, of olefins, in particular α- olefins having 2 to 8 carbon atoms, the olefin copolymers preferably being composed of ethylene and one or more α- olefins having 2 to 8 carbon atoms, such as propylene, butene 1, hexene-1 or octenes as comonomers. The melt index, measured at 91 ° C., is preferably 0.1 to 30 g / 10 minutes, in particular 0.4 to 4.0 g / 10 minutes.
The olefin homo- and copolymers carry functional ones Groups, for example with hydroxyl or Amino groups are able to react, preferably acidic active groups, such as carboxyl groups or acids hydride groups. Introducing these groups into the Olefin homo- and copolymers can be grafted on or by installation in the basic structure, for example using maleic anhydride or acrylic acid or methacrylic acid as copolymers. Mixtures can also be used of these homo- and copolymers are used, the acidic groups partly through suitable cations can be neutralized. Maleic acid is used for grafting and / or fumaric acid and for polymerizing acrylic acid and Derivatives thereof preferred.
Commercial types of these copolymers contain the functional groups in amounts of 0.1 to 5.0% by weight, in particular from 0.3 to 3.0% by weight, based on the olefin homo- or copolymers. Preferably used Copolyolefins from ethylene and propylene with a propylene proportion of 15 to 40 wt .-%, with acrylic acid or Maleic anhydride have been functionalized.
The acidic groups can be completely or partially neutralized, for example with Na⁺, Zn ++ or the like, in particular 0.5 to 10% by weight and very preferably 0.1 to 5% by weight, based on the mono- or Copolyolefin.
Mixtures of modified and non-modes can also be used Fitted separating layer base polymers can be used.
The separating layers in the granules according to the invention functionalized olefin homo- or copolymers are known materials.
The thermoplastic polymer types that react with each other consist in particular of polyamides and ethylene / vinyl alcohol polymers and can use common additives and fillers contain.
The granules according to the invention can per se known methods are made by layers of the reacting (and possibly non-reacting) polymer types and those forming the separating layers Materials are made on top of these layers such conditions are united that adherent laminated strands can be obtained, for example, by Exposure to heat and pressure. The received Become layered structures then crushed into granules in the usual way, whereby however also larger parts than granules if necessary Molding materials can be used.
The granules are preferably produced by Extruding and especially by coextrusion, for example in such a way that the components are separated melts, the melts in a coextrusion tool known layers in such a way that, for example, on Exit of the coextrusion die with one strand Core made of a polymer and a sheath made of one second core reacting polymers and between Core and shell of a third polymer, which the Separation of the two mutually incompatible polymers causes appears. This polymeric melt strand is then granulated in a known manner after solidification, for example by cutting, but it can also be a Hot blow off directly on the nozzle plate.
In the granules according to the invention are together reactive thermoplastic polymer types by in between horizontal separating layers chemically separated, but with this firmly connected.
This granulate can be used to manufacture molded articles can be used, for example by extrusion, injection casting, rotational molding or extrusion molding.
Those using the according to the invention Shaped bodies obtained are multifunctional, wherein the properties of both the core and be determined by the shell material.
An advantage of the granules according to the invention is that that the quantitative ratio of the reacting with each other polymeric components in a further melt pass, preferably in processing, in any way Mix in one of the components or one with it non-reactive other polymers changed and the Suitability profile of the finished parts can be adjusted. In a preferred embodiment is the polymer that the Sheath layer forms, mixed.
Shaped body in a known manner by extrusion, injection pour or rotational molding from the invention Granules are produced, surprisingly show very good barrier effects against liquids, gases or Vapors, although they usually no longer run continuously show layered structure.
Films made from the granules according to the invention are, especially those, the polyamides and Containing ethylene / vinyl alcohol copolymers show a strong increased barrier effect compared to pure Polyamide films.
Die folgenden Beispiele erläutern die Erfindung. The following examples illustrate the invention.
Die Granulatlänge betrug 2,5 mm.On a coextrusion line, extruder a) was used Ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer from Kuraray (type Eval EP-F) on extruder b) a grafted polyethylene from Mitsui (type ADMER L2000) and in extruder c) a polyamide-6 from the company EMS-Chemie (type Grilon F40) melted. The three melted materials were in a coextrusion layered so that the Eval as the core material, the PA as the outer covering and the grafted PE as Adhesion promoter layer between the core and the outer covering leave the tool as a round strand with a diameter of 3 mm. This round strand was cooled in water and in line granulated by a known method. The length of the granules was 2.5 mm.
The layer thicknesses were adjusted so that 80% by weight Eval, 10% by weight of polyamide 6 and 10% by weight of grafted polyethylene templates. This granulate was then in a proportion of 37.5% by weight mixed with polyamide-6 F40 and blown films after known method. It was checked how long this mixture without cross-linking in the extruder and mold can be driven. On the foils thus produced measured the oxygen permeation.
For comparison, the standard granulate was polyamide-6 Proportion of 30 wt .-% Eval EP-F added and in the same Processed into foils.
