Abstract
A gas storage space (7) for expanding quench-gas has an intermediate wall (8) which splits the space into two part spaces (13,14). A channel (6) directs the flow of the expanding gas into the first part space (13). At the end of the intermediate wall opposing the entry point form the channel there is a first opening (10) to couple the two part spaces together. The intermediate wall at its end adjacent to the entry point from the channel has a second opening (11). A first valve operable by pressure difference may allow flow of insulating gas into the first part space, and is closed by a flow reversal. The second opening may have a pressure valve opened by higher pressure in the space (7) than in the channel (6).
