Abstract
A high-energy compsn. comprises: (i) 70-90 wt.% of energetic paticulate solids (I) dispersed in and spatially immobilised in (ii) the balance of a bonder system (II). (II) comprises: (a) 25-50 wt.% of 1,2-syndiotactic butadiene; (b) 50-75 wt.% of a plasticiser miscible with butadiene; and opt. (c) up to 4 wt.% of a wetting agent. Pref. (IIa) has an Mw of 100,000-200,000. (IIb) is dioctyl adipate or dioctyl phthalate or mixts.. (IIc) is lecithin. Mfr. of the compsn. comprises: (i) mixing (IIa) and (IIb) at a temp. of at least 90 deg.C. such that the butadiene is molten, and adding (I); (ii) deaerating the mixt.; (iii) casting the mixt.; (iv) allowing the mixt. to cool to a solid compsn. contg. solid particulates dispersed in plasticised butadiene.
