Abstract

The light metal, or plastic bottle top (1) is fitted with a securing collar (3) which is fixed to the bottle neck and with tear lines to separate the collar and the top when the bottle is opened. The tear line (2) is under a downwards sloping flange (4) at the bottom edge of the cap. The flange covers any sharp edges caused by the tear lines. It protects the fingers from injury and provides a trim finish to the closure.
