Abstract

The sea anchor consists of two symmetrical flukes (5), located on either side of a shank (1) which is able to pivot through a given angle relative to the flukes. The angle of the shank is limited by flexible elements to allow the anchor to be freed from the sea bed in the event of it becoming wedged. The flexible elements are formed by wire loops (11, 12) interacting with thrust elements (6) on the flukes adjacent to their pivot on the shank.
