Explosionsturbine.
Explosion turbine. The invention relates to explosion turbines, at
which the ignition of a chamber charge by the explosion gases of another chamber
he follows. It consists in the fact that several dormant explosion chambers by a special one
Channel interconnected, through which the ignition from chamber to chamber
is transmitted. The invention aims that the transition under as little as possible
Loss of heat and pressure takes place in order to ensure safe ignition, whereby
It is also provided for the transfer channel in the event of low loads on the turbine
to heat.
To start up the cold turbine, any electrical or
other ignition device may be present in the chambers because of the possibility
Individual ignitions that did not proceed properly or because of insufficient load
the turbine can remain in operation even while it is in motion.
The overall arrangement pertaining to the invention is as follows:: Multiple

The rest of the propellant gases are removed from the chambers by purging air, and the game for
this chamber begins again. In the same way, one after the other, all the chambers
the turbine ignited. Since the arrangements of the general control are sufficiently known
only the special arrangement is used in the description and the accompanying drawing
for transferring the ignition from one chamber to the next chamber.
IV dargestellt.
In the drawing, the arrangement is shown only by a schematic cross section (Fig. I) of an explosion turbine with four stationary chambers I to IV. The four chambers are connected by a common channel kk, the four entrances of which are drawn by any desired closing organs operated by a special control, flaps e, f, g and h, can be opened and closed in a timed manner.
in Kammer I eingeleitet ist.
Chamber III has just ignited and releases part of its propellant gases through a working valve, not shown, by means of a nozzle onto the paddle wheel, also not shown. Channel kk is still under a certain pressure from the previous ignition and is still at a fairly high temperature. Through the still open flap g, channel hk in turn fills with partially relaxed but still hot propellant gases from chamber III and, by opening flap h, lets them flow violently into chamber IV, so that the contents are ignited here. In the meantime, the propellant gas content in chamber III has expanded sufficiently and flap g is closed. The channel kk is now filled again from the chamber IV with burning propellant gases from the ignition, ela flap Ir remains open until then. When the pressure in chamber IV drops as a result of the expansion through the working nozzle, flap lt is only closed again after the ignition in chamber I has been initiated by opening flap c. In the same way, the heat and pressure storage of the channel kk in all chambers I to IV in turn initiates ignition with the opening of the closing organ belonging to each chamber (flap c to 1a.); on the other hand, by closing them off during the expansion through the nozzles, excessive relaxation and cooling of the channel klz is avoided.
In Fig. 2 it is shown how the channel kl in connection with a rotary valve
take over the evaporation of the imported fuel with simultaneous ignition
can. However, this is also conceivable for the channel in Fig. I, if the fuel
z. B. for the ignition of the chamber IV simultaneously with the hot propellant gases (originating
from chamber III). channel kk is blown through the flap h in chamber IV,
in the process ignites and burns completely in chamber IV with the formation of pressure.
The compact shape of the channel k1 in Fig. 2 is particularly suitable. for heavy fuel oils and forms a certain parallel to the glow head in heavy fuel oil engines with the difference that in this case the air movement takes place in the same cylinder, while here the air movement that mediates the ignition takes place from one ignited to the next ignited chamber. The fact that the fuel is injected and ignited not with pure air but with propellant gas is irrelevant, since all engines, as well as explosion turbines, all - besides a small admixture of exhaust gases - work with excess air. There is therefore still enough free oxygen in the propellant gases to ignite, ie initiate combustion. In Fig. 2 the arrangement for a slide control for four chambers is drawn as a "glow head channel" with a common fuel nozzle for the four chambers; Arrangements are of course also possible in which a similar, compact design with four closing organs, as in Fig. i with flaps or valves, and with four fuel nozzles can be used. The ignition process is the same as that in Fig. 1, with the difference that the fuel enters the chamber to be ignited at the same time as the hot propellant gases. Chamber IIh had z. B. ignited. In the drawn position of the slide with glow head channel k1, the part of the propellant gases intended to ignite the next chamber enters the glow head channel k1 in the direction of the arrow and brings it to a higher temperature and pressure. At this moment, a certain amount of fuel is injected through the drawn, common nozzle b with any movable feed line from a fuel pad, which evaporates and ignites under the action of the hot propellant gases and the duct walls. This inflamed mixture enters chamber IV 'when it is on fire and finds the fresh air required for complete combustion here. In the meantime, the slide with its channel k1 has rotated further (to the left) and closes g1 and 111. During this time, the chamber contents IV 'can burn completely under pressure and expand in part through the nozzle (not shown). When the slide with channel k1 is turned further, IV 'is connected to II through openings hl and ei; the propellant gases from IV 'now enter 11 at the same time as the fuel from b and, when completely burned, bring it to pressure. In the same way, all the chambers of the turbine are ignited one after the other.
