mie Bd. II, I.Teil, S. 220); so ergibt z.B. Anilin und Amylalkohol unter diesen Bedingungen
Aminoamylbenzol (Ber. 15, S. 1642).
kleine Mengen Chlorzink unter Wasserabspaltung in Tetrahydrobenzol übergeht (S a b a tier,
Katalyse S. 173). ·- . :It is known that primary aromatic amines with alcohols of the fatty series in the presence
react of zinc chloride in such a way that the alkyl radical enters the nucleus (Meyer-Jacobson, Lehrbuch der Che-.
mie Vol. II, Part I, p. 220); for example, aniline and amyl alcohol give under these conditions
Aminoamylbenzene (Ber. 15, p. 1642). In contrast, it has now been found that
those alcohols which are derived from hydrogenated aromatic nuclei, e.g.
Cyclohexanol, methylcyclohexanol and the like with primary amines in the presence of zinc chloride
react in such a way that the alcohol radical with the formation of a secondary amine in the
Amino group occurs. Such secondary amines are so far only from cyclohexylamines
and alcohols with the help of metal oxides, e.g. thoroxide, as a catalyst
(Mailhe, Chem. Centralblatt 1911,
L, p. 11). If one starts from a secondary amine, the corresponding one naturally arises
tertiary amine. For example, from aniline and cyclohexanol, cyclo-
hexylaniline, from methyl aniline and methylcyclohexanol methylcyclohexylmethylaniline.
This reaction was quite surprising, since cyclohexanol is known to have already passed
small amounts of zinc chloride converts into tetrahydrobenzene with elimination of water (S a b a tier,
Catalysis, p. 173). · -. :
Instead of aniline or methylaniline, their homologues or substitution products can be used; instead of cyclohexanol, their homologues or substitution products can be used
use higher homologues with equally good success.
Beispiel 1.Example 1.
kann.372 parts of aniline are heated to about 250 ° for a few hours with 200 parts of cyclohexanol and 20 parts of zinc chloride. After some of the precipitated chlorozincaniline has been separated off, the oily reaction product is subjected to distillation in vacuo, excess aniline and some unchanged cyclohexanol initially passing over, while the cyclohexylaniiine can be collected at 130 to 135 0, for example at 4 mm pressure.
Beispiel 2.Example 2.
321 parts of m-toluidine are heated with 100 parts of cyclohexanol and 10 parts zinc chloride at 250 to 260 0th After the reaction has ended, it is worked up as above and the resulting cyclohexyl-m-toluidine is collected under a pressure of 13 mm at 155 to 160 °. If o-toluidine is used instead of m-toluidine, the corresponding isomeric compound is obtained.
