Abstract

The method is intended for securing a tube (1) with curved portion in the bore of a plate by applying axial pressure on the straight tube portion. A mandrel (2) with tools (7-9) are used to produce outward annular folds either side of the plate. On the side of the curved portion, the axial pressure is applied via a shoulder (6) in the tube, which is pref. produced by plastic deformation of the tube. Part is pref. widened by inserting a mandrel (2;3,5,4) having a larger-dia. portion (3) connecting to a smaller-dia. portion (4) via a shoulder (5).
