Abstract

The cylindrical container is made from a length of tube with an end wall fitted to one or both ends. Each end wall (2,3) consists of a circular disc with a circumferential groove (8) in its periphery. The groove is filled with a ring made of plastics, or of a material which is easily plastically deformable. The ends of the tube are rolled to a dia. to match that of the discs, which are then inserted in the ends of the tubes. The ends of the tube are then subjected to a rolling operation which forms a circumferential, internal ridge engaging the groove in the discs.
