Abstract

An electromagnetic switch appts. has an arrangement for holding a compression spring (5) consisting of a cylindrical bore (4) to accommodate the spring in a bridging contact member (1). The end of the last turn of the spring extends beyond the cylindrical outline of the spring, and this extended portion (6) engages on L-shaped slot (7) in the side wall of the bore, the first arm of the slot lying parallel to the bore axis, the second arm at right angles to the first. The extended portion is pushed into and along the first arm and rotated when it meets the second arm to move it along. The extended portion is then secured in position by engaging a ridge (10) defined by a groove (11).
