Abstract

Pavement marking sheet material comprises a base sheet of rubber or synthetic resin and glass microspheres having refractive index of 1.5-1.9 and glass microspheres having refractive index of 2.0-2.4, embedded as a mixt. at least partially in a portion of the base sheet. This portion is formed at intervals in the longitudinal direction of the base sheet or continuously in the longitudinal direction of the base sheet in a part of the base sheet as viewed in the transverse direction of the base sheet. The glass microspheres of refractive index 1.5-1.9 are of dia. 50-1000 micro.m., and the glass microspheres of refractive index 2.0-2.4 are of dia. 50-350 micro.m. The microspheres of low refractive index are dispersed over 30-40% of the area of a flat sheet before embossing and the microspheres of high refractive index are dispersed over 50-85% of the area of the flat sheet before embossing remaining after the microspheres of low refractive index have been dispersed. The base sheet has a base layer and a thin coloured layer on the base layer.
