Abstract

In order to manufacture a pressure-stable tubular membrane for reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration, a tubular membrane which is not pressure-stable is wrapped and strengthened with a weave of glass fibre or plastic in such a way, that a pressure-stable tubular membrane is formed.

Description

The invention relates to the production of a pressure-stable tubular membrane by wrapping a non-pressure-stable tubular membrane with a Fiber network made of glass or plastic and gluing with a suitable one Glue, or by thermally fusing the fibers together.

According to the current state of the art one is required for the Pressure filtration reverse osmosis inserted tubular filter membrane perforated support and drainage pipe made of pressure-stable material. It corresponding pipes made of plastic, metal or ceramic are used for use.

To reduce the manufacturing effort, costs and weight are tubular membranes according to the inventive method purchased (HOECHST Kalle plant, Wiesbaden) or after a known processes described in the literature (see Ullmann's technical encyclopedia, membranes) or another method a plastic coating and possibly fleece were made, with a plastic mesh soaked in a suitable adhesive or glass fibers wound in such a way that after curing the adhesive the original tube membrane encasing porous, pressure-stable tube arises. Alternatively, an impregnated mesh can be used which is only after wrapping around the original Pipe membrane using an adhesive (e.g. reaction resin, epoxy, Polyester or urethane or hot melt adhesive) or by thermal Treatment by partial melting (e.g. with a hot air dryer or a heating element) is solidified.

Wrapping the original tubular membrane can either be spiral in narrow paths, individually or in several layers in same or opposite direction as well as broad, across the entire length of the tube membrane-reaching web can be wrapped.

The resulting porous cladding tube proves to be pressure stable in Depends on the type of mesh, the geometric arrangement of the layers and the number of layers as pressure stable for use in reverse osmosis. Because of the lower pressures that occur there the entire area of micro and ultrafiltration locked in.

Good pressure stability was achieved when in use a commercially available glass fiber network (e.g. glass fabric SK from the company Kast, Postfach 106, 8972 Sonthofen) in strips of preferably 5 cm Width, a winding angle of 60 degrees, 5 superimposed webs and solidification with an epoxy reaction resin.

Claims (1)

A process for the production of tubular membranes for pressure filtration mainly for use in reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration, characterized in that a non-pressure-stable tubular membrane is wrapped with a glass fiber or plastic network and is solidified by applying an adhesive or by hot melt bonding such that the resultant enveloping tube in combination with the enveloped tube results in a pressure-stable membrane tube suitable for reverse osmosis.
