Abstract
Description
Auflage, Seiten 326 ff gegeben (herausgegeben von G. Oertel, Carl Hanser Verlag, München, Wien 1983).Process for the production of hydrophilic, predominantly open-celled Rigid polyurethane (PU) foams and their use in horticulture, for example as substrates for growing and growing plants and as Floral floral foam is known. An overview of rigid PU foams in horticulture, for example, in the plastics manual, volume 7, polyurethanes, 2nd edition, pages 326 ff. (Edited by G. Oertel, Carl Hanser Verlag, Munich, Vienna 1983).
Through the use of special starting materials, in particular modified organic polyisocyanates, and through the development of new formulations, open-celled rigid PU foams with bulk densities of less than 25 kg / m 3 , preferably from 6 to 15 kg / m 3 , have been successfully produced.
Hydrophilic PU foams of the type mentioned are according to DE-A-19 40 182 (US 37 06 678) produced by the implementation of biuret groups Polyisocyanates with mixtures of 100 parts by weight of polyoxyethylene polyols and / or polyoxypropylene polyols and 20 to 100 parts by weight of water. To Information from DE-A-20 04 518 (GB 13 26 161) is used as an additional hydroxyl compound a multifunctional aliphatic and / or cycloaliphatic Polyol with a molecular weight of up to 500 in an amount of 5 up to 15% by weight, based on the foamable reaction mixture from the polyol mixture, water and polyisocyanate, used and that Polyisocyanate used in such an amount that the NCO index 20 to Is 80.
For the preparation of moist organic materials, e.g. B. pre-dewatered peat, these flakes with diameters from 0.1 to 20 mm of an open-cell, hydrophilic PU foam with a density of 10 to 50 kg / m 3 according to DE-A-20 29 190 are incorporated.
According to other patent publications, so-called agricultural foams, e.g. B. according to DE-A-22 27 111 (GB 13 83 184), using liquid, Aromatic polyisocyanate mixtures containing sulfonic acid and / or sulfonate groups produced or it is according to EP-A-1 51 937 Prepolymers containing NCO groups with a functionality of 2.1 and an NCO content of 2 to 12% by weight is reacted with water.
The associated methods are disadvantageous in the described methods relatively high manufacturing costs. Provided the hydrophilic PU foams are made from tolylene diisocyanate isomer mixtures, the Procedure more expensive because of the high isocyanate vapor pressure Precautions. But also the use of NCO prepolymers or Polyisocyanates containing sulfonic acid and / or sulfonate groups required an increased cost that competitiveness with inexpensive foams based on phenolic resins impaired.
The object of the present invention consists of inexpensive commercial polyisocyanates and polyhydroxyl compounds hydrophilic To produce PU foams that are about thirty times their own weight Can absorb water and have no toxic ingredients.
Surprisingly, this object could be achieved through the use a special mixture of polyhydroxyl compounds on ethylene oxide and propylene oxide based and inexpensive polyisocyanates on the Basis of diphenylmethane diisocyanates and / or polyphenyl polymethylene polyisocyanates.
Gegenstand der Erfindung sind somit hydrophile Polyurethan-Hartschaumstoffe mit einer Dichte von 15 bis 50 kg/m3, erhältlich durch Umsetzung vonThe invention thus relates to hydrophilic rigid polyurethane foams with a density of 15 to 50 kg / m 3 , obtainable by reacting

The invention further relates to a method for producing the hydrophilic rigid polyurethane foams according to claim 3 and the use the hydrophilic rigid polyurethane foams according to claims 7 until 10.
The hydrophilic rigid PU foams according to the invention, which, as already explained, have densities of 15 to 50 kg / m 3 , preferably 18 to 40 kg / m 3 , can be produced inexpensively by the one-shot process and, owing to their good wettability Cell walls made of predominantly polar structural components are able to adsorb large amounts of water. The rigid PU foams according to the invention are, on the one hand, brittle enough to be milled for use as an additive to improve soil, compost or other substrates, such as peat, sand, sawdust and others, and on the other hand can be cut in the production of block foams for use as floral foam.
Zu den zur Herstellung der erfindungsgemäßen PU-Hartschaumstoffe geeigneten Ausgangsstoffen ist folgendes auszuführen:Suitable for the production of the rigid PU foams according to the invention Starting materials must be carried out as follows:
