Abstract

The splint comprises two dorsal sleeves for the thigh and calf which are thermoplastically kneaded from a plastic (Globolen) onto the plaster model of the patient to be treated. The sleeves are provided with padded hook and loop fasteners. The connection of these two sleeves comprises a specially developed dorsal mobilization joint which infinitely corrects the knock knee or bow leg depending on its setting. The joint comprises a lower part and an upper part, the upper part being adjustable in two guide slots on the lower part from 0 degree to 30 degrees. This is achieved by means of 5-millimetre cylinder screws. The pivot comprises a 5-millimetre stud, see drawing. The entire mobilization joint is made of V2a stainless steel which is selectively sintered or remains bright after preparation.

Description

Titel:
Dynamische Bad Camberger Nachlagerungsschiene
Title:
Dynamic Bad Camberger repositioning rail
The invention relates to a splint for correcting the X and O leg (genu-varum and genu-valgum).

Zweck:
Purpose:
The splint is used to correct the child's X and O leg.
For follow-up treatment of childlike fractures that have healed in the wrong position or injuries to growth joints near the knee.
Also for immobilization after extensive ligament injuries to the knee joint. Depending on the malposition, the patient's leg is successively squeezed into the normal position.

State of the art:
An identical or similar device is not known. The previous restoration was provided by a rigid, lateral or medial half-shell, into which the knee was corrected by pulling a knee cap. It is a non-changeable construction from thigh to ankle that cannot be dynamically adapted to the circumstances.

Criticism of the stand:
The disadvantage of this treatment was that the patient was corrected into a stiff shell with great pain right at the beginning of the treatment. Due to the growth of the patient, the splint had to be rebuilt two to three times depending on the growth spurt to achieve the treatment goal.
This led to an unnecessary expense regarding this treatment area due to increased personnel and material expenses.

Aufgabe:
Task:
It was necessary to replace this conventional splint with a dynamically adaptable device and thus to ease the patient's suffering. Unnecessary costs should be avoided in the sense of reducing treatment costs. Nothing stands in the way of multiple use of the joint construction, since only the plastic parts (upper and lower sleeve) can be prepared for the respective patient.

Siehe anliegende Kurzbeschreibung
Solution:
See attached brief description

Erzielbare Vorteile:
1. Schmerzminderung bei stufenweiser Korrektur.
2. Mehrfachverwendbarkeit.
4. Kostenresparnis
Achievable advantages:
1. Pain relief with gradual correction.
2. Reusability.
3. With early application, the temporary epiphyseal clamping according to "Blount" can be avoided as an operational consequence and thus all risks associated with surgical care can be excluded.
4. Cost savings
