Abstract
The casing is shirred on the core so that the full length of its inner shirred surface is in gripping contact with the core.. Frictional force from this contact is sufficient to prevent the shirred casing stock from advancing along the core while it is nearly exhausted, the frictional force of the remaining casing is insufficient and the casing would be pulled downstream. A restrictor is attached to the upstream end of the casing to attach it to the stick with a frictional force sufficient to prevent the remaining casing from being advanced en masse to the stuffing horn.
