Description
Method for measuring fine, solid or liquid additions in gases. The previously known methods for measuring fine additions in gases, z. B. of dust particles in exhaust gases, or of dripping liquid particles in gases, such as B. tar or sulfuric acid, give incorrect values or are; in practice linked to other grievances. One used inter alia. previously for measuring dust in exhaust gases a process -, whereby a smooth surface provided with a sticky surface The plate was placed in the gas flow and the amount of dust adhering to it was weighed became. The practical experiment shows that at higher gas velocities the The result is completely incorrect, as there is a static cone of air in front of the plate forms. Another method involves sucking in the dusty gas. through fine Filter and measures the amount of dust retained in it. Here makes the restraint very fine dust particles great difficulties; furthermore, through the built-in Filters the resistance to gas movement changed significantly, which also Sources of error arise.
The present process consists in that from the gas, its Admixtures of solid or dripping liquid particles are to be measured, a branch stream is taken, which is sent through a precipitation apparatus, which, by means of high-voltage electricity, knocks down the particles from the branch current. These particles are then weighed or measured. The high voltage electrical precipitation method in itself is known; any or any known method can be used. It is well known that the very finest dust is found in high-voltage precipitation apparatus down, these devices are also characterized by the fact that the volume resistance for, the gas can be kept as low as desired. The application of these precipitation methods for: Measuring fine additions therefore gives a very precise result. Man can carry out the measurement in such a way that the sent through the device Branch current is measured and the deposited good, from which easily the ratio of the admixtures results. The measurement can also be done in this way make "that the ratio of the amount of the diverted gas flow to the total gas flow is determined once and for all and the measuring apparatus continuously for any one Remains switched on for a period of time. The amount of dust precipitated in the measuring apparatus multiplied with this ratio then results easily the total amount of dust that during was contained in the discharged gases throughout the measurement time.
